Guidelines 4/2019 on Article 25 Data Protection by Design and by Default
A fundamental read for #privacy advocates in #Europe (and elsewhere).
It provides a short in depth explaination of practical aspect of the legal responsibility of data controllers under #GDPR.
For example it clarify that data protection measures (both tecnical and operational) must be designed to be EFFECTIVE and to be effective BY DEFAULT.
It also specifies that the cost of data-protection measures cannot be used to justify their lack of effectiveness, but only to peek the cheapest one among the effective ones.
And, obviously, the data controller is always accountable for such effectiveness.
I've just been reminded: I often forgot the constraints most people feel (and work around) with existing web hosting services! By which I include Medium and YouTube.
Running my own homeserver really illustrates to me how trivial all these webservices really are. They're very much pretty facades upon almost nothing!
Silicon Valley has done nothing to deserve your worship.
Zoom is deleting events that criticize Zoom censorship... 🤨
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/janelytvynenko/zoom-deleted-events-censorship
To clone the DMCA censored "youtube-dl" from the DMCA repo:
git clone -n https://github.com/github/dmca.git youtube-dl && cd youtube-dl && git fetch origin 416da574ec0df3388f652e44f7fe71b1e3a4701f && git checkout FETCH_HEAD
The RIAA issued GitHub a takedown notice for "youtube-dl" via their DMCA repo, which of course GitHub instantly complied with without protest.
Now a security bug GitHub refused to fix has been used to push the DMCA censored code into the DMCA repo itself.
Let the recursive censorship games begin!

Remember kids:

Also, can we make a point of always calling it Microsoft #GitHub from now on please? Thanks.

People, everyone needs to read the whole parent thread. This is important.
Copyright is encroaching on everything from right-to-repair do the right to communicate freely; #youtubedl situation is just the latest of a long string of abuses.
We need to reform copyright.

My mirror of the #youtubedl repo is now up – big thanks to @polarisfm for the initial mirror.
Let's keep ytdl alive and kicking! 😈
I'm very sorry for your issue but...
Can I say I'm very excited to see those books? I can't wait to get my copy!

C vs JS... or maybe not.
@CobaltVelvet@octodon.social
Uhm... you seem a bit confused.
I'm not sure why you find my toot condescending. You said that people would get angry for your statement and I clarified that I think you are wrong about this.
People who know well both languages, will not be angry for your statement. They will just deduce you don't know well either of the two.
Also, I don't know how a picture or a bio in my profile could count as arguments about my programming skills more than what I wrote in the toot itself. If I had lied in the toot, why I should be honest in the bio (or the picture?)
Anyway, I didn't lie.
Here is my website: http://www.tesio.it
Here is my operating system (in C): http://jehanne.io
Here is my github account https://github.com/Shamar
You won't find much about JavaScript in my code, as it's mostly developed for my employer, but I'm the goto guy when people cannot solve a problem in JavaScript (or other languages) on multi-millions banking projects.
(but again, you can trust my words or not... and there's no way you could even know if this account is actually owned by the author of those sites...)
This obviously produce a bias in my perception: the vast majority of the problems I have to fix (after months wasted by other developers trying to fix or workaround them) are actually due to the dumbness of JavaScript design and it's impact on developers culture.
If you knew a little bit more about JS, I think I should not even name the garbage collector of IE: you would already know about the left-pad scandal of NPM.
In any case, there's nothing wrong into ignoring something and you shouldn't feel ashamed.
But I'd would suggest you to study a bit more about Informatics before comparing programming languages and framework.
Otherwise, any random internet guy could use your ignorance against you.
Good luck!
google, privacy, e-mail, from
Google started editing people's e-mails in GSuite, replacing links with a link through google.com:
https://mobile.twitter.com/sneakdotberlin/status/1317734739537653760
https://twitter.com/tblodt/status/1317875714981416962?s=20
This means that Google will track a click on a link *in e-mail* even if you're using an external client.
I am *guessing* this is under the pretext of phishing protection, but it actually *creates* additional phishing risk for text-only clients, since now all links are google.com links.
