Women are just as capable of those things as Men. Women rape, women molest, women abuse.
These things are a sickness of the mind which is not gender-specific.
So #qoto peoples, what sort of video games do we like? What might you want to see me fail at? And believe me, I will be failing a lot because while I love my games I can not say I am good at them.
@Melkora Yes.
@freemo Cool. I have 100MB now, so I'm not sure if that is upped quota or not,
@root I'm told they're more of a heated monster energy drink kind of gremlin
@root Visited by the gremlin of zippers, Zipopamo.
@realcaseyrollins oops.
@realcaseyrollins Yes. The Allegory of the Cave in action.
This is going to be a long one. Buckle in.
So, today's #ShareTheMusic is in honor of the music my mother introduced me to.
Why?
Because I'm a good Jewish boy who loves his mother. (Also, I think she's got pretty good taste in music.)
So, without further ado, here are bands, songs, and musics that my mother specifically introduced me to while I was growing up!
Let's start with Jethro Tull. My mother loves Jethro Tull, and it certainly gave me a love for 'Progressive Rock'. In that mind, my favorite Prog Rocker, Steven Wilson did some remixes of Jethro Tull- Enjoy one of those tracks: Rover, from the album Heavy Horses: https://open.spotify.com/track/1ZpOlBm6Yz8eE8Q6Tpc8PM
Music was often a part of my life growing up. My mother plays guitar, and for a time used to take jobs at bars and taverns as live entertainment. A little something extra for the house. I was too young to join her on these excursions, so I don't know exactly what she played. Knowing my mother, though, she'd probably be playing folk music- old and new. She loves folk music.
Let's start with the fantastic singer songwriters The Indigo Girls. In the early 90s my mother got me one of my first CDs: The Indigo Girls "Rites of Passage". My favorite song from the album is Galileo (It was a toss up between this one and Ghost, both on the same album... I'm going with Galileo because it always makes me want to sing.

Now, Debbie Friedman- what young Jewish person in the modern era doesn't know Debbie Friedman? Not By Might, Not By Power: https://open.spotify.com/track/3FQx5p1B4RZrHfSogIrSbQ
Peter, Paul and Mary- What Folk loving person doesn't include them? Here is my favorite song my Mother used to sing to me as a child- Weave Me the Sunshine : https://open.spotify.com/track/2H9eq8hiylt5a1H8flNNKX
Let's roll it back into rock and roll now. As a child of the late 60s, and mostly the 70s my Mom was most certainly into the eclectic mix that happened in the era. Luckily, my mother never really kept herself to a single genre- any music is good music to her. (She does have reservations about modern Rap, but I think we can forgive that.)
As this post has gotten quite long, I'm going to just post a few songs with titles and artists to more or less wrap up this session of #ShareTheMusic
Fleetwood Mac's The Chain: https://open.spotify.com/track/5e9TFTbltYBg2xThimr0rU
Hall and Oates' Sara Smile: https://open.spotify.com/track/1qjrYozGqc7upUgfN776lZ
The Beatles' Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da : https://open.spotify.com/track/02FJNRUlB28e1F0R9uP2s1
Last, but not least- Cecilia by Simon and Garfunkel: https://open.spotify.com/track/6QhXQOpyYvbpdbyjgAqKdY
Now, I could put hours and hours and hours of music on this particular #ShareTheMusic as my mother's musical tastes go on and on. But, here we are- a little taste of the music my mother shared with me while I grew up.
Are there any songs one of your parents shared with you growing up that's shaped your musical interests? I'd love to hear it!
@PennyD @quaylessed @spinster @gab @alex @realcaseyrollins What I'm getting from this conversation is that I need to get a couch so I can organize something. My life is so disorganized. :(
@Pricey @AthenasWrench That's some pretty fucked up BS right there.
@Nicola That dude is super creepy and so literally the thing people were warned about that it almost makes me believe that he's like a plant or some kind of epic troll.
Too much information points towards this being real life, however. Nice to see some of that cognitive dissonance is alive and well, I guess.
Account has been Depreciated. Thanks for all the fun, QOTO!
