The United States accused Russia of fomenting a civil war in Sudan.

Russia is funding both sides of the civil standoff in Sudan, which began in 2023, to achieve its political and economic goals, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said.

Russia, according to the diplomat, bears partial responsibility for what is happening in Sudan, since it vetoed a draft resolution of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on a ceasefire in the country in November. The representative of the russian Fuckeration to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, explained this by the fact that the UK wants to "leave for itself the opportunity to interfere in the affairs of Sudan and further political and social engineering" through the submitted document. At the same time, the remaining 14 states in the council voted in favor of the adoption of the resolution.

"Russia decided to prevent [the adoption of the document]: by voting alone to endanger civilians, and at the same time funding both sides of the conflict - yes, that's exactly what I said: both sides," Thomas-Greenfield said at an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council on the protection of civilians in Sudan on Monday, January 6.

In response to a request for further clarification of her position, a spokeswoman for the US mission to the UN noted that Washington is aware of Russia's "continued interest in the gold trade in Sudan." Thomas-Greenfield added that the United States condemns any financial support for the warring parties - "whether it is illegal trade in gold or the supply of military equipment."

"We believe that the cooperation of the Sudanese authorities in gold mining with sanctioned Russian organizations and individuals may be unfavorable to the long-term interests of Sudan and the aspirations of the Sudanese people to end the war."

The war in Sudan began in April 2023 against the backdrop of a power struggle between the country's Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Reaction Force (RRF, RSF) before the planned transition to civilian rule. The conflict has triggered the world's largest humanitarian crisis. "At least five regions are currently experiencing famine. In five more regions, we see a projected famine in the coming months. And at least 17 additional areas are at risk of starvation in the same period," Thomas-Greenfield said.

In December, Russia's permanent lying ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, called "fabrications spread by Western countries and their media" that Moscow is trying to play on both sides of the war in Sudan to take advantage of the situation.

However, despite Russia's attempts to influence events in the region, the official authorities of Sudan in December did not give permission to open a Russian military base in the country.

The General Staff confirmed an attack on the Kristal Plant oil storage facility in Engels. Multiple explosions were recorded, followed by a large-scale fire. Local authorities acknowledged the strike on an "industrial facility."

This depot supplied fuel to the Engels-2 military airfield, home to Russia's strategic aviation. Its destruction poses significant logistical challenges for the occupiers.

A Russian ammunition truck exploded after being hit by a Ukrainian FPV drone near Pokrovsk.

⚡️ Ukrainian pilot breaks world record by shooting down 6 Russian missiles in one combat mission using a F-16 fighter jet.

This happened during a massive enemy attack on December 13, 2024: "According to the results of objective control, we have one hundred percent confirmation of the fact that for the first time in history, in an anti-air battle, an American F-16 fighter jet shoots down six cruise missiles, two of them with an aircraft cannon. And a Ukrainian does it," - Yuriy Ignat, head of the public relations service of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The only weapon left on his F-16 after shooting down 4 cruise missiles was a rapid-fire aircraft cannon! The pilot began to approach the target…

— I understood that there were few chances of hitting a missile flying at a speed of 650 km/h+, — says the pilot, — first you need to find it in the sky, level it out in height and, from a distance of no more than 500 meters, fire ahead of it. And flying close is extremely dangerous — in the event of a 450 kg warhead detonation, there is a great risk for the plane, at the very least, to fly into a cloud of debris.
The pilot understood this, he knew how dangerous it was, how he was risking his life, and how to act correctly in this situation, because not so long ago he had undergone training on the F-16 in the United States of America.

But there is one “but” — the pilots in the US learned to shoot down air targets with an aircraft cannon exclusively in simulators. In real flight conditions, the Ukrainian F-16 pilots had never used the cannon against missiles. And here he used it, and how he used it…

— At first I looked for the target below — nothing. Then I gained altitude, raised the radar and saw it. I did everything as the instructors in the USA taught me, as I practiced on the simulator. A few rounds from the gun — and an explosion… then another one! Repeated detonation… I thought, — but, as it turned out according to the results of objective control — there were two missiles! They flew in a pair, next to each other. The enemy often launches them in such a tactical configuration, a whole group of enemy missiles can fly close to each other, so that they are seen as one target. Well, actually, that day I probably set a record. However, the main thing is the result! I am glad that I succeeded, I dedicate this success to all my comrades who went on an eternal flight, waiting for the F-16 in the Ukrainian sky.
