US Stance on F-16s and Strikes into Russia Remains Unchanged
The presence of F-16 fighter jets in Ukraine does not alter the US position regarding strikes deep into Russia, stated Matthew Miller, a spokesman for the US State Department.
"My answer has not changed: we continue to look at the needs of the Ukrainian military, assess the security situation, and try to respond to their needs. That's how we make appropriate decisions about the weapons we provide to Ukraine, as well as the restrictions, if any, that we impose on the use of those weapons," Miller said, as quoted by Voice of America.
Meanwhile, Forbes reported that this summer, due to US restrictions, the Ukrainian Armed Forces missed a unique opportunity to destroy dozens of Russian Su-34 aircraft at the Malyshevo airbase near Voronezh. The Ukrainian command had requested permission to strike with ATACMS missiles, which are nearly impossible to intercept. However, the Biden administration responded with an outright refusal.
Russian Authorities Instruct Telecom Operators to Slow Down YouTube
Russian authorities have notified the country's largest telecommunications operators to slow down YouTube video playback speeds to 128 kilobits per second, according to The Moscow Times.
Sources indicate that the authorities have decided "not to turn off completely, but to greatly slow down" YouTube on home internet connections.
While mobile internet speeds for YouTube are currently unaffected, "degradation" is also occurring on smartphones, though "not as significant," the source added.
As Ukraine banks on its young tech startups, Western banks are cutting them off
Mercury is a U.S.-based fintech firm that provides banking services, specifically focusing on the startup market. It was a go-to for many firms with Ukrainian founders based both inside Ukraine and abroad. At the end of July, many of those firms were unceremoniously debanked.
According to Mercury, the decision to cut off services to Ukraine was a response to U.S. sanctions on Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine. Ukrainian founders were shocked at the move by a firm that had once wooed them with their Ukraine-specific service offerings.

🔴 IDF: Over the past few hours, dozens of protestors attempted to break into the Tel Hashomer base during protests that took place outside of the base. The protesters managed to infiltrate the Adjutant Corps Monument adjacent to the base fence. Israel Police forces cleared out the protestors.
Breaking into a military base is a serious offense and is against the law. The IDF condemns this violent behavior and insists that the protestors be brought to justice.
The enlistment of ultra-orthodox citizens is an operational necessity and is being conducted in accordance with the law, and the IDF is determined to continue advancing it.

🔴 IDF: Today (Tuesday), IDF representatives officially informed the family of Bilha Yinon z"l, that she is no longer alive.
Bilha Yinon was the last person designated as missing since October 7th. Since the start of the war, the IDF and specifically the Manpower Directorate, have conducted an extensive investigative effort via different teams in various fields to determine Yinon’s fate. As part of this effort, evidence was discovered in the area of Yinon's house that, after complex testing, enabled the verification of her identity.
A Ministry of Health committee of experts, consisting of representatives from the IDF investigative team, the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, the Israel Police and in cooperation with the Chief Rabbi of Israel Yitzhak Yosef, determined based on a combination of findings that Bilha Yinon was murdered on October 7th.
The IDF sends its heartfelt condolences to Yinon's family and to the entire community of Netiv HaAsara.
🔵 The evil Ayatollah and his terrorist proxies in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen have threatened to bomb Israel. To send a message of solidarity and support, I’m catching the next plane leaving 🇨🇭 for 🇮🇱.
It’s time for the world to stand up to evil. The timing of the October 7th massacre was deliberate. Precisely when Saudi Arabia was about to make an epoch-changing peace with Israel, joining Bahrain, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates in the Abraham Accords, the murderous Ayatollah and his Hamas-Hezbollah-Houthi terrorists decided to burn Arab-Israeli peace by igniting his war against Israel.
The head of the octopus is in Tehran. It’s time for the world to wake up and recognize that we will never have peace until the evil Ayatollah regime is no more.

I voted in the primary. It's an open primary so I chose Republican. Chose some really bad Republican candidates. If you do that then if the Democratic candidate is good, he or she might get elected. Plus it gave me a chance to write in Mickey Mouse against Josh Hawley who was running unopposed in the primary.
The life of Volodymyr Maslov was taken by a Russian attack on the city of Toretsk in Donetsk region. On June 26, 2024, the enemy shelled a residential multi-story building on Lisniy Street. His wife Valentina died nearby.
Volodymyr was 67 years old. He was born in the city of Dzhankoy in the Crimea. In childhood, the family moved to Donetsk region. Volodymyr got married here. He worked in the separate unit "Southern mine".
He loved to read books about the development of the soul, in his spare time he did various types of gymnastics, and also meditated. Together with his wife Valentina, he lived in marriage for 44 years.
"My father had golden hands and a very kind soul. He is our home psychologist, caring and loving. He always helped people with advice and deed, knew how to listen and support," said daughter Inna Kravchenko.
Volodymyr Maslov is survived by his daughter Inna, son Serhiy, granddaughters Yana and Veronika, brother Anatoliy.

The AIM-9X is also present, a faster missile than its -M predecessor capable of pulling more G’s and manoeuvres more quickly and dramatically to deal with notching fighters. We’re talking 40G+ turns in flight which is a mind boggling number. It’s relatively short ranged and uses Infra-red.
Also shown is the AIM-120 AMRAAM, an active radar homing missile.
What that means is the F-16 radar can pick up an enemy at say 70 miles, fire the missile and the missile will find its way to the target without further communication from the aircraft or need to have the aircraft ‘illuminate’ the target with its own radar. The typical fire and forget approach. They’re said to be almost invincible at up to 50-60km but effective hitting ratios drop dramatically after that to under 40% and decline with range.
Ukraine was also supplied with additional anti-radar HARM, small diameter glide bombs and the larger JDAM systems.
The F-16 was not equipped to carry and was never fitted with StormShadow or its equals. It’s not impossible they could be equipped to carry one with modifications but it’s a very big missile and I just don’t see it on this aircraft type.
Other things that were being noted from the video were the runway that appears to be no more than a gravel strip. It’s entirely likely the landing gear has been beefed up to cope with non-traditional bases. We all know the Russians will be hunting these aircraft down.
I suspect they’re waiting to use their missile stockpile - they haven’t used them in weeks - for a strike against these bases.
Which brings me in to the field of the Shaheed drones. Russia has been sending these out with tracker kits and dummy warheads to scope out attack paths. They have also been using dummy warheads in some to act as targets while other drones try and get through.
Clearly they’re trying there best to find ways around defences and to waste defensive effort.
So a mixed bag of news but all of it good for Ukraine.
Meanwhile Iran is planning a war ‘to cross all of Israel’s red lines’. Expect it to start any hour.
