Jeff Tiedrich says we sweep things like this under the rug. That's an awfully big rug because this case is huge.

President Zelenskyy gave a lengthy interview. Main theses.
— Zelenskyy allowed the possibility of elections during the war, but for this, the USA and the EU had to finance the election process, as well as send their observers to the trenches at the front.
— "We are ready to fight for a long time without losing people, minimizing casualties. Like, for example, Israel."
— The de-occupation of Crimea can be politically "pressed" because, in this way, we will have fewer victims.
— If the war moves to the territory of Russia, it is a significant risk that we will be left alone.
— An invitation to NATO is not everything, but it is very close. For us, this is the final decision of the world where we are in geopolitics.
— The Ukrainian victory will make it possible to return democracy and integrity to Belarus, Georgia, and Moldova.
— "I would like victory with the impossibility of a return to war. It is necessary for the people to remain united," said the president about his most cherished dream.
F-16 will be able to detect Russian aircraft at long distances and will allow Ukrainian pilots to stay out of range of advanced Russian air defense, Atlantic Council writes
In addition, these fighters are likely to be equipped with AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles, which are similar in performance to, and possibly superior to, the Russian R-77.
In addition, the operation of the F-16 will provide Ukraine with a platform capable of easily integrating a wide range of complex weapons systems, should the US and other countries decide to offer them in the future. These range from the AN/ALQ-131 electronic countermeasures system to long-range kinetic weapons such as small-diameter bombs and cruise missiles such as the AGM-158 JASSM.
As soon as Ukraine can operate F-16 aircraft, NATO countries will open the door to supply these weapons, as they are easily compatible with American-made fighters.
Burning a piano in memory of a dead pilot is a tradition Ukrainian pilots took from American pilots.

What professions are in demand now and what will be relevant in the future
We tell @Pravda_Gerashchenko readers about the labor market today and tomorrow.
The invasion of the Russian Federation greatly changed the labor market in Ukraine: thousands of Ukrainians lost their jobs, many had to retrain. After the war, the situation will change even more. Some popular professions will lose their relevance, and specialists in the restoration of the country will become the most in demand.
Professions during the war
According to the State Employment Service, the greatest demand from employers is now observed for skilled blue-collar workers. Also, enterprises are looking for locksmiths, electricians, drivers, tractor drivers, salesmen, cooks, accountants, educators, nurses.
According to the Work ua website, the biggest demand from employers is for salespeople, sales managers, accountants, drivers and cooks.
Professions after the Victory
It will take more than a dozen years to restore cities and the economy, to help people survive the horrors of war. Therefore, as noted in the Employment Service, the following professions will be relevant for many years:
▪️ builders and architects;
▪️ energy;
▪️ employees of transport and logistics;
▪️ programmers;
▪️ doctors;
▪️ psychologists;
▪️ law enforcers.
Entrance Campaign 2023
Interest in relevant professions is already emerging, but not in all specialties. According to the information system "Enter OSVITA UA", most of the applications of applicants to universities were submitted for the following specialties:
▪️ “Right” (57,572 applications);
▪️ “Psychology” (46,857);
▪️ "Philology" (43,970);
▪️ Computer Science (43,894)
▪️ "Management" (43 509).
So far, there is no interest in such important professions as an architect, doctor, builder, power engineer.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacted to the intention of five neighboring countries to extend the ban on the export of Ukrainian products after September 15.
"We consider it categorically unacceptable to continue trade restrictions on the import of agricultural products of Ukraine after the expiration of the ban of the European Commission.
They cause complete misunderstanding and intentions to add other categories of Ukrainian products to the list of prohibited products," the ministry emphasized.
But they called on the leadership of the EU and member countries, "some of which have received increased funding from the European budget," to find a balanced solution based on EU legislation and the Association Agreement.
SHOULD UKRAINE HOLD AN ELECTION NEXT YEAR?
Presidential and parliamentary elections are scheduled technically for next year. However the Ukrainian Constitution allows them to be suspended in wartime and grants the president wide ranging powers. Parliament basically stays fixed in place.
There are a number of different approaches and examples to this.
The US held an election as mandated in 1944.
Britain on the other hand didn’t have an election from 1936 until 1945. As soon as Germany was defeated the country went to the polls. However the British have a lot of flexibility over elections and have just changed the rules again. The Prime Minister had the right to call an election at any time - and only the Prime Minister - inside the dates of the maximum length of a parliament. This has been five years for decades. But that five years starts on the date of the most recent election. As five years runs out in December 2024 the U.K. could have an election any time between now and then.
Ukraine however has a problem that can’t easily be overlooked. Since it’s last election 20% of its land is under occupation. Around 20% of its population is abroad as refugees. Organising such a huge electoral challenge for them alone is a big enough task. Expecting several million displaced, forced evacuees in Russia, and those in occupied Ukraine not to take part is a bit much. It’s almost a de facto recognition that they’re gone for good, and that’s not acceptable.
There is also the issue of accurate electoral rolls, registering people to vote and the process itself when Russian vindictiveness is almost certain to target voting sites.
Yet, and this is the reason this may matter, Republican Senators in the US who support Ukraine in principle, are considering the election as an essential pre-requisite for further aid.
So what do you think? Should Ukraine hold its elections regardless of the situation outlined above, or wait, as it’s constitution empowers it to do, until the war is over? Or at least the fighting is.
Cast your vote in the poll and feel free to comment here!

Put back the money Bush took (borrowed) from Social Security with interest at current commercial mortgage rates and start taxing billionaires and corporations at reasonable rates. How about at the rates when Eisenhower was president. He was an HONEST Republican even if his vice president was not.

DRONE SWARMS & DEFEAT
If we weren’t seeing this with our own eyes you would think we’re entering an era of a sci-fi movie.
Drone swarms were seen over the battlefield yesterday by the Russians, they claimed. They seemed a bit shocked by it but the drones seemed to spilt up then go after their targets, so it became just another day.
Two swarms of drones - 42 of them - broke into Crimea and even though Russia said it took them out using jamming and shot down nine, there were some big explosions at key points in southern Crimea last night.
More flew north and east to hit strategic bomber bases, hunting down the remaining Tu-22M3 bombers, believed to be down to just 25 in number after 40 years of service.
A just revenge for aircraft that have dished out so much civilian misery on Ukraine.
S-200’s now converted to ballistic missiles streamed into Russian territories, probably shot down, but that’s not really the point is it?
The point of all of this is that for the most part Russia’s only defence for its bombers is distance.
The point is that Russia has dished it out without consequence for over a year, and the proverbial shoe is now firmly on the Ukrainian foot and they are kicking back. And each week sees an exponential increase in the scale and severity of their strikes.
Did Putin really think this wouldn’t happen? Unquestionably the Russians are preparing a missile strike response.
Ukraine knows that, we all
do. It will be more violent and more unpleasant than anything they’ve ever done before. It’s what they do. But it won’t stop it all coming home to Russia.
I am waiting for the day big enough drones manage to coordinate a strike on one of those ministries of towering glass in Moscow. And bring it down. Nothing would symbolise more, the failure of Putin’s regime.
On the frontline their is a palatable sense of imminent failure, the stench of fear is everywhere in the Russian lines. Even Ukrainian officers have been saying they are seeing and feel a change in the enemy. Rumours that Russian surrender levels are as high as 20% in the last few days, persist, but Ukraine won’t admit that because it endangers so many lives.
There is something unquestionably happening in the south.
There’s momentum, there’s a lack of Russian leadership and clearly something on their side has gone wrong and they know it.
This weekend could see Novopokorivka taken. It’s in an open position on the steppes and is not easily defended. Ukraine would not have to blast their way into the town because it’s easier in this terrain, to go around it and cut it off.
Today could be a very good day.

The marine UAVs now have their own military unit. Once they get the submarine UAVs in mass production the Russian fleet will be doomed
