@freemo You're getting it right. But the thing is we don't have any particular culture that is followed uniformly throughout the country. Like the part where I am from (Kolkata), has more similarities with Bangladesh.

Similarly many on the western part has similarities with Pakistan when it comes to the way of living eating etc.

Here we say one thing: "Unity in diversity" (though in current conditions, it has been questioned many times)

Long post: Mastodon, newbies, an India server

+
I'm guessing that all of us newbies who've flooded in looking for a Twitter alternative should, sooner or later, build our own instance on a safe server.

It's a big plus for me that Mastodon's structure doesn't encourage the dangerous vanity of high follower counts/ celeb profiles. Smaller groups, focused on specific interests, with higher levels of trust: I could buy into that future.

I tooted more here in 2 days than i tweeted in 9 months.

What I find interesting, is that in India, there isn't a social norm of moving out of parent's house after 18, unlike many other countries.
Maybe because of the large population leading to high rates of housing.
I guess, that's another reason why our Desi parents want us to act like grown-ups but treat us like babies at the same time.

Anyone here knows how to solve a rubik's cube?
I leant it recently and am working on the speed.

My maternal grandfather was asking me about the and as soon as i told him about Muslim getting 5 acre land, he was done. A explained him 3 times what the verdict says. But for the past half hour, I've been listening to him saying how fked up our society is and how Muslims are getting all the benefits. S.M.H.

Just wanted to let this out.
I might share some of my memes that come to my mind at 3 AM.
Please don't scare away.

It's amazing how you find tiny made-up reasons to kill each other and ignore enormous actual things that will kill everybody.

Boost me if you want to read about my experiences and readings about mental health

What a peaceful life it is. No TV with Arnab shouting with politicians. No Twitter to make me go 'smh'. To all the here, please spend your day reading a book, watching Ted ed or Ted talks or just sleeping.

Vote wisely or don't complain. I also has other things to do.

Dude, a guy in my building is busting songs projecting hate towards Muslims. He can be booked for hate, i guess. Should I kick his speaker or should i kick him?

@artisticphilosopher@mastodon.social @_lunawinters Well, before I start i just want to say that i don't endorse or believe in any religion originated from earth.
Ayodhya is a city located in UP, North India. It was 'believed' to be the birth place of Rama (One of the famous Hindu God). So sometime around early 1500s, first mughal emperor built a mosque in Ayodhya, cuz he can?. The place was highly critiqued ever since and dispute began around 1850s by the Hindu community. They wanted to build a 'Rama' temple.
So fast forward to 1992, a huge group of Hindus actually took over and demolished the mosque manually.( A lot of factors are involved obviously )
So the verdict on whether the place belongs to Hindus/ Muslims/ Shared territory will be known tomorrow after almost three decades.
