@fiery_zarzar @durrivedfunktor Also seems to be a difference whether you click on the followee in your feed vs using the Follows and Followers link. The former allows you to see only people also on your instance, the latter allows see all of them. Apparently because it brings up a page provided by the remote instance.

@fiery_zarzar @durrivedfunktor If you follow someone you can generally see their follow/following list via their profile, 2 clicks really. For at least one person I follow this doesn't seem to work, but they are on a "garage" server, so it may be misconfigured.

@durrivedfunktor what extra steps? I search and follow. Is there some other way?

@acjay @jpatton I guess I'm a little slow, but you are right qoto.org is on that list. Someone has opened a PR to remove it, which I think they should. Your solution seems solid though, maybe we will get there someday.

@herid Unfortunately that one has bugs. I asked about it already, one of the admins informed me it is broken.

@herid qoto.org has some extra features over the base server code, this is one of them. See qoto.org/about/more under Unique Features

@markkitti I'd pay particular attention to the items in what will get you banned. I'd expect that ignorant opinions expressed respectfully will just have people blocking you, but you won't get banned. But I dunno if you are expecting to push the limits of acceptance here, you should consider putting that stuff on one of those instances where they will actually agree with you.

@markkitti Have you read qoto.org/about/more? I don't know any more, but it seems to be pretty clear, maybe ask for clarification on particular points?

@trinsec @freemo That's unfortunate, but I doubt I'll be posting much math, was just curious how well it worked, as it was explicitly identified as a feature in "About this server" link.

@jpatton @acjay That's a long list, I'm gratified that the 3 servers I have blocked are on that list, but how do we block all of those quickly and easily when we don't run a server? It seems like it's more of an admin thing, but thanks for the list!

@freemo Does latex math work on this instance? It sort of works when I test it by making a completely private post, but there's a message about math processing error? Do I need more boilerplate? All I have is :backslash: ( e = mc^2 } :backslash: ) where :backslash: is just the backslash character.

@acjay One of the nice things I've noticed here is you can block entire groups of "people" by blocking the servers they have accreted onto.

But yes, having lists of certain classes of servers that we could block all at once would be quite nice. I don't know if that exists tbh.

@freemo @higharchmage

This is would be awesome, one of the few things I miss from twitter.

So it seems we should do an . I'm a software developer currently working at a biotechnology firm in southern California helping build their first product. I develop in C++ and C for the flattened green pellets, I use Rust and Python in my spare time, hacking on a fringe biology-inspired computer vision thing. I am a Linux and i3 user and I hate your mainstream OS. Just kidding use what you want, just don't ask me for help! 😜

I am a fan of SpaceX, independent of the guy in charge, who is clearly a loon. I'm old as dirt, socially liberal and a recovering libertarian. I walk a lot and am a bad vegetarian. I enjoy smokey and/or peaty scotch whisky, and have never turned down a good IPA.

@freemo It seems that fired twitter employees are recommending Mastodon. At least that is the rumor that pushed me over the edge, I'm neutral on Musk but would much prefer a decentralized service, as long as most of the people I want to follow are on it and posting content. I hope Mastodon gains the critical mass from the exodus that it will need to make this happen.
