@frayoshi Agree. iIt should be mandatory that if there is a dark mode, that people can choose when using the software for the first time. Especially visually impaired humans need contrast.

@adianVeidt maybe start with an so users can see what your are interested in. Also search the hashtag to find others.

Leave the #leaves to rustle underfoot.
To damp and decay and dry and shelter and rot and feed and protect and warm and enrich and disintegrate. To melt gently back into the earth.
Not waste but life.
Nature’s quilt.
Leave them be.
As if you’re not there.

@yarmo @rastinza I understand that it might me a bit technical for new users. I just learned that hashtags are vital to find the groups and people which share your interests if you are not on a server that already is your interest. Again just ideas. Also, and I think that is a vital point though, is the heritage/history. Because mastodon was and still is a hub for marginalized humans who found a safe space here and populated the fediverse way before it was on the map for most. What do you think?

@rastinza @yarmo I think it is a start with a good take. I would definitely expand on the different ‘places’ in terms of clubs, boroughs/districts/neighborhoods. Also private clubs are a thing. And the use/need of needs to be mentioned as well as ownership (majors?).

Evening read, sorry- it's bird related

@ajsadauskas @goodblue it is getting better and better. Did you read the transcript from his staff meeting?

@gutterbookshop thank you. They will all be saved to my gift list.

Hi hello time

I'm Ian, an scientist based in , , USA! They/them please, he/him is fine if we're close. I have a Master's in from UW-Madison and I currently work in environmental consulting. I've written a thesis that will never be published and I will never go into academia, but I love and soil chemistry, and I've dabbled in archaeology and wetland reclamation.

Here you can expect pictures of my cat, griping about water quality and pollution, adventures in home cooking, Dungeons & Dragons spitballing, MN leftist politics, and lukewarm takes on video games. I was the first in my family to get an M.S., I make a mean chana masala, and at least one friend has referred to me as a he/him lesbian. I've crocheted a couple of dice bags and it made my hands hurt.

I don't intend to use this website as a professional place--but feel free to follow if we share interests. Love and solidarity always.
