This is encouraging: A protein that disrupts cells’ energy centers may be a culprit in chronic fatigue syndrome
American scientists have identified a protein that seems to play a part in chronic fatigue by screwing with the mitochondria ("the powerhouse of the cell", if you'll remember highschool biology).
At least on a petri dish level, they managed to de-fatigue human cells.
This might be an important step for #MECFS and #LongCOVID patients.
Cool job: the NAACP is hiring a Digital Justice Fellow to “critically examine and address the role of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data in the creation, maintenance, and furthering of racial inequality.”

@keithgoode hey Keith! I'm glad you're on here as you have a ton of SEO knowledge. I have been missing your posts on Twitter (I left late last year).
While the #AI hype has been raging through the media over the last six months, governments have been slowly ramping up efforts to regulate the development and application of #ArtificialIntelligence :

@mistakenotmy Wow, love this! This is quite a design departure for Citroen around that time. I think this concept would work well as an autonomous vehicle network, like a personalized subway system. Thank you for sharing!

I am thinking of doing what others are doing. Posting a problem a day from Newman's "Integral Matrices". To show that some Integer problems are neither too hard nor too simple :) Actually, the book is about "matrices over principal ideal rings" :) but integers form the backdrop.
Although, given the popularity of the subject, I would have to explain the terms associated with the problems (and probably progress through the theorems). I have always been fond of that book and would welcome a reason to refresh myself.
I highly recommend supporting the Standard Ebooks project. 📚

When I was in elementary school I got really into alternate number bases (binary, ternary, base six, etc.) as well as other cultures' representation of numbers (Egyptian hieroglyph numbers, Babylonian, Mayan, etc.). So I remember being really excited to learn about the brand new Inupiaq number system (base twenty, with its own symbols), and for a while I would write the date at the top right corner of each paper I turned in using the Inupiaq system. An update, three decades later: Unicode is adding support for these numbers, which are more properly known as Kaktovic Numerals. https://mastodon.me.uk/@tokensane/110190269939949935
