I get the feeling that the in-browser Mastodon client (and maybe I mean as modified by qoto, unless that's all done with templating?) (and maybe I mean v3.2.1) has a significant memory leak.

The Discord client, too, while I'm on the subject.

@ceoln what's the memory leak?

Discord in general is very insecure.

@barefootstache
Memory leak in the sense that it gradually uses more and more memory until it runs out and the browser crashes the tab or whatever. Not directly security related. :)

@ceoln that's usually due to infinity scroll. Pagination would help.

@ceoln

Basicallyt he issue is if yo scroll down to a point and leave it there. New messages come in and fill up the column and slowly eat up memory.. its not a bug though, its just the memory it takes to display the messages..

It is easily resolved by taking the scroll bar and moving it back tot he top (most recent post).. then after a few seconds when the next post comes in all the excess messages that were loaded disapear and the memory is freed.
