: does anyone know why the 'Copy Link Without Site Tracking' option is no longer available on Mozilla's Firefox?

@bibliolater from v132 onwards if the link doesn't have parameters that can be cleaned to avoid tracking (ones that Firefox identifies as such, not every single existing parameter) the option is greyed out. There's discussion with the developers to change the name to something else, because it doesn't clear all tracking parameters as someone would expect. Furthermore, there are extensions that might sanitize the link before Firefox "reaches it".
[Edit: Release notes for v132 here: mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/132.]

@bibliolater you're welcome. I forgot to add a link to the release notes, I'll edit the toot because it can be of service to anyone else too. If you find a link that should have been cleaned and doesn't, please report the tracking parameters that aren't removed by filing a bug in Bugzilla (bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug).

@bibliolater It is still available, but only conditionally now. If :firefox: does not detect nasties, it does not actively offer the option. Otoh if it does, it does. Btw, in :firefox_nightly: which i use, it is renamed as Copy Clean Link.

@bibliolater Tbh that option never even worked properly for me. I'd use it, but it'd still copypasta the entire link and I would have to remove the unnecessary tracking bits manually anyways. So idk why it was even there in the first place. :/
