@bibliolater from v132 onwards if the link doesn't have parameters that can be cleaned to avoid tracking (ones that Firefox identifies as such, not every single existing parameter) the option is greyed out. There's discussion with the developers to change the name to something else, because it doesn't clear all tracking parameters as someone would expect. Furthermore, there are extensions that might sanitize the link before Firefox "reaches it".
[Edit: Release notes for v132 here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/132.0/releasenotes/]
@bibliolater you're welcome. I forgot to add a link to the release notes, I'll edit the toot because it can be of service to anyone else too. If you find a link that should have been cleaned and doesn't, please report the tracking parameters that aren't removed by filing a bug in Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Core&component=Privacy%3A%20Anti-Tracking&bug_type=enhancement&blocked=1920601&short_desc=StripPARAMETERonWEBSITEwithCopYWithoutSiteTracking).
