@lucifargundam Man, I've seen all these rejection posts and now I want to see your resume!
@khm Interesting thread. These things always rub me the wrong way as I'm self taught. Organizations that put these sorts of requirements up miss out on some of the most passionate and experienced technical people you can find. But looks like I'm preaching to the choir.
@alex I hate obnoxious drunks. I prefer introverted and self-reflective drunks.
@khm I get a scientific laboratory would put a heavy focus on higher education, but it seems weird to me that the job requirements for this type of job would *require* a minimum of a Bachelor's degree. Just an observation!
@alex you got a timeline? We don't even have a timeline for when we'll have safe water again. Maybe I should go to Cancun until this all blows over.
@alex This is the best one. Thanks.
@bazurk@mastodon.online I just got here and while I’ve had to do a fair bit of muting of the obvious nuts, I’ve also found a good amount of people that I agree or disagree with but still seem reasonable people. I also agree with @marathon that it sucks to lose seemingly level headed people like you. Maybe moving to a different instance would help change your crowd.
@dv8 I got to thinking about it and realized that I could just adapt my current local-download solution to just ssh into the remote machine and do the download there since I used ssh keys. I should really put a bit more thought into things before I post them. Anyway, if you or anyone else is interested below is that script.
@dv8 Yep, mostly on Linux or sometimes macOS. I'd check it out if you are willing to share.
@dv8 Ah! I see the keyword filter option in the web interface. Thank you.
@chris if you end up on a good service it'd be nice to get an update from you on it. The biggest thing preventing me from going to iOS again is the lack of call screening feature like the one on Android. I haven't answered a call I didn't want to since I bought my Pixel.
@gerdmoebehrens the masks are effective in filtering out the water droplets that the virus travels in. An infected person doesn't exhale virus particles, they exhale droplets containing the virus.
@Lixitini I've used i3 which I liked but it's multi-monitor behavior was never intuitive to me. Openbox I never really spent much time with but Fluxbox used to be my goto. Never tried dwm.
@Lixitini I'm in a constant state of change. Right now it's Plasma. Last week it was Gnome. A month ago it was spectrwm. I have a problem.
@John I've never had a McRib. I've got to admit I'm McRib Curious.
@SmilingTexan We visited a couple years ago and was surprised at how big and spread apart everything was. Had a great time though, even though it wasn't as kid friendly as we had hoped.
I believe the inauguration is purposefully being kept small because of the pandemic. I don't agree on your assessment that more oppose than support the new President. That is what elections are for and Biden pretty clearly won it.
@chris Back when I had to have a phone for work, the best decision I made was having a personal phone as well. Keeping those two worlds separate had a lot of benefits in my case.
Maybe retired software/systems engineer.
