maybe i should really try to not use the web except for when it isn't possible otherwise, like for banking. time to set up a gopherhole?

@bonifartius Mm, wonder what bad things Vivaldi does. I use that, see.

@trinsec they are fighting an uphill battle, as every antifeature needs to be removed by them. also regrettably not really open source (i don't think they do shady things though).

@mc gemini feels like mixture of several ideas somebody had while brainstorming "the perfect protocol for blogging". i also don't like the markdownish content format very much that goes along with it.
the only thing gopher is missing for me is optional encryption, otherwise it's very nice imho.
tl;dr: tastes differ :P

@bonifartius I can tell you Chromium steals passwords (of course, for "user safety" - to "check that they're secure enough"), then, it blocks unwanted extensions, claiming them as "dangerous" or "malicious" - for example, a VPN extensions are blocked. of course, getting to "blocked in your country" Youtube videos is "malicious". and this is just what I deleted from Chromium code. Chrome has much more anal probes inside, nobody checked its code.
