because they can. especially cargo bikes are a lifestyle product for rich people now - electric bikes not exclusively, i see many tradesmen here using them to go to work. they aren't crazy expensive anymore though.
the people i see using cargo bikes are to more than 90% bored rich parents who use them to transport their kids to childcare. people just love the eco-larp: transporting kids does also work with a 400€ trailer.
i bought a used radonneur bike with steel frame years back and that does work fine. i don't bike that much though. i wouldn't want to have to buy a new bike now though, the market is totally broken.
i think the only way to have a sane solid cargo bike for a sane price is building your own but that is much work. i am kind if interested in learning to weld though :)

Sorry everyone on #QOTO for the extended downtime. It was a massive migration to entirely new infrastructure. It will allow us to apply the 6 updates we have ready that we wrote with minimal future down time. Will also allow us to scale dynamically.
After we check that everything is working ok post-migration we will start applying updates in a beta environment everyone can test before we move updates to mainline. This should prevent all future downtime.
For the record this is the first time we had downtime of more than 5 minutes since the founding of QOTO over 5 years ago. So this is not normal for the server.

Antakya Sarcophagus was found during a foundation excavation on Harbiye Street in Antakya, Türkiye.
From the coins found inside the sarcophagus, it is estimated that it was built between 265-270 AD. Bones belonging to three people, an adult woman, an adult man and a young girl, were found inside.
