i love ranting ✨

journalists are really showing their best side currently. on fedi telling people to kill themselves in response to trolling. others complain over how lawless it is here. then we have some journalist in germany who writes a comment for the biggest public broadcaster saying

> Musk has also announced that Twitter should become the "marketplace of debate". But on his "marketplace" apparently racist or conspiratorial rats should also be allowed to crawl out of their holes. Twitter can only remain relevant if these very rats - to stay in the marketplace picture - are beaten back into their holes.

[ translated from web.archive.org/web/2022110510 / archive.ph/M8mv0 . they removed it in the current version and put an apologetic note at the end. ]

so, everyone who is _deemed_ "conspirational" or "racist" is a unworthy rat.

journalists create the "evils" they then loudly complain about just like big pharma creates the sicknesses they then peddle pills for which create more sickness as side effect.

Pinterest, without a doubt, is one of my most hated websites.

This shiny stuff looks pretty cool. I wouldn't want to do that for living though 😂

As someone who is using one of the few good Mastodon instances, it gets really annoying when people lump all Mastodon users with the fediblock, SJW types.

talked to someone in his mid twenties today who was never really sick save for the occasional cold. was bullied into taking a covid shot by his workplace. had a year full of pneumonia and other assorted illnesses after that.

really makes you think!

@job384 if you want to deter a normie from joining fedi, just tell them the fediverse is like if twitter and 4chan had a baby
Mastodon ProTip: instances can choose not to accept deletes. Once you post something it's here forever! Welcome to fedi!

I didn't realize she was from that terribly (yet hilariously) named university. Maybe now that she's on a mastodon instance, she'll finally learn what it means ... before she tries to dox every single person she doesn't agree with so she can make her way onto the editorial staff of The Washington Compost or the New York Crimes.

The Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) is a small passerine bird of the Paridae family. As a residential and non-migratory bird, the blue tit rarely moves far from where they once hatched.
The yellowness of their ventral parts seems to be correlated to the number of caterpillars eaten, which contain carotene pigments, as well as the time of breeding. 🐦 🐣
Yes kids, a tit is a bird. :ablobcool:

Sometimes, you just need a parent. Kiddo is at college (45 min away). Was out of an important Rx. Could Not Find their supply. Got a refill locally, ran it up tonight. Dorm room? Looked like a tornado hit. Kiddo has ADHD, too. Organization is a challenge. I suggested we pick up so they felt more settled. We did, even found the Rx they were out of! 😂 They were mortified. Nope. I was there to deliver hugs, a bit of calm, sew a button back on a coat with the emergency sewing kit I bought them, and we chatted a bit. When I left, dorm room was organized. Kiddo was calm. Lots of hugs given.

I told my husband I thought I was delivering a vital Rx when what I actually needed to deliver was some hands-on love. Glad to have been able to do so.

Sometimes, when life is crazy, we just need someone to help us pick up our laundry, hug us, and remind us that we are doing okay.

Something interesting I noticed on Mastodon vs Twitter after being on both for several years: posts get way more meaningful engagement here (per capita) than on Twitter.

I have an order of magnitude more followers on Twitter, but other than the occasional outlier, my posts here get similar numbers of likes, boosts and replies as they do over there.

It's an interesting phenomenon, and I wonder if it will continue if more content is actually being generated on this side.
