This man works on a small farm in Kenya. If anyone would be interested in joining a group voice chat with him (tomorrow) Sunday afternoon let me know.

@hakui @coyote @colonelj

>no just the normalfaggots, they should remain contained in twitter and not pollute the fediverse

"Remain contained"? They live on the same IRL planet, and they make IRL polices that are enacted through IRL force. The astroturfing of Twitter is the mechanism by which they are coordinated, and pulling them out of Twitter has a massive advantage all by itself.

I could write two more paragraphs connecting this to human thermodynamics, but you seem incapable of responding even to your own two-part questions, much less mine:

>maybe you should wonder what makes Somalia inferior and Iceland superior in the first place

@hakui @coyote @colonelj

>no, the topic is why people do not migrate from the inferior Somalia to the superior Iceland

Immigration restrictions, which in this case are designed to make the cost of transition **higher**. Are you trying to say that you don't want anyone new to join the Fediverse?

>maybe you should wonder what makes Somalia inferior and Iceland superior in the first place

A certain Tribe wanted to enslave the local population and so deliberately poisoned their culture. Man without a culture is nothing but a Beast.

Speaking of which, the culture of Iceland hasn't been doing too hot [sic] lately, has it? It's almost like a poisoned culture is a universal problem.

@hakui @coyote @colonelj

>Spreading social media is satanic.

Spreading Twitter is satanic. Spreading Fediverse is not. Why do you equivocate them?

@stevejail @coyote

>These are not people who matter in the overall course of humanity.

The market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent.

>a graph that has nothing to do with the topic

The topic is why people do not transition from the inferior Twitter to the superior Fediverse, and the answer is the cost of transition, which Qoto reduces for SFW normies and no other instance does.

Lowering the cost of transition using an onboarding instance directly corresponds to the idea of lowering the activation energy of a reaction using a catlyst or enzyme.

The original graph showed instead the dual idea of increasing the temperature (ambient energy) to "lower" the relative activation energy, which causes the same effect (an increase in the shaded area of potential molecules amenable to reaction).

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED PLEASE REGISTER WITH A DIFFERENT FEDERATED SERVER YOU CAN INTERACT WITH ANYONE HERE THROUGH THE FEDIVERSE

>fedi was fine before qoto, it'll be fine after

No, this is just edgy cope. I mean I'm sure Fediverse will continue to "exist", just like IRC will continue to "exist". If that's all you want then sure.

No onboarding server = no onboarding. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the thrust of the matter!

>he also verifies it

I never verified any STEM thing. You can't onboard normies to the Fediverse with an instance whose timeline is full of anime and windmills. Qoto serves a critical niche as the most based SFW centrist instance with open registrations. Without that niche Fediverse would die. Thank Goodness for Qoto.

A buff is like a fan or a connoisseur or enthusiast. You recognized aether as a classical element and insisted on its spelling. You also promised to say hi to us there :)

@nar @zleap @jlj @Liberonscien

Hello here are some friends I met on the [watchredditdie discord](discord.gg/jXjTetpvNB). Since we have a critical mass of fediverse people there I think it's a good nexus for outreach and evacuation from discord.

@zleap is the source of the tag and banner

@category_mirrory is a fan of category theory and math<->language metaphors such as homomorphism<->metaphor.

@jlj hosts nfld and is an expert in diodes and lateral thinking.

# The Paradox of Consistency - Part Two

> If someone got 0 correct that might strongly indicate the person is psychic too.

That is the correct answer and thank you for hosting qoto. The scenario is from a book where a telepathic child underwent such a test and tried to hide their ability, and was therefore caught because they gave no correct answers (which is impossible for a non-telepath).

[Too Good To Be True: when Bayes transforms abundant success to abject failure](youtube.com/watch?v=Uz6xUjJHTI) - 20 minutes at 2x speed
* If too many judges agree
* If measurements of a noisy signal are too consistent
* If you find the same DNA in too many places
* If there are too many fines belonging to the same ID
* If your chem-trace results show too many positives
* If too many witnesses agree
* If you experience a single gamma ray bit errors

I found the theme of this video interesting because it reminded me of a characteristic of certain political theories often discussed today; namely that when you grant their assumptions it almost seems like they are "too good" at predicting or explaining every event that happens. One can posit a heuristic, then, that if a certain complicated-sounding theory or mode of analysis seems to produce "too consistent" a result; then it is likely that complicated-sounding theory or mode of analysis (T/MA) is actually effectively isomorphic to a far simpler (and less persuasive) T/MA for all values tested. It is as though the complicated-sounding T/MA is a complex electronic device which has a flaw resulting in a short circuit, causing it to behave as a much simpler and probably unintended T/MA. This also resembles a complex mathematical function intended to produce a complex mathematical shape containing a hidden factor that reduces to a far more degenerate shape over the values tested.

# The Paradox of Consistency - Part One

**Background**: The government is testing citizens for telepathic potential.

**Procedure**: Each citizen is pulled into a room containing an experimenter, a face-down deck of 100 Zenner Cards (5 possible symbols), and 5 buttons each marked with a Zenner Symbol. The experimenter draws and looks at a card without showing it to the citizen, and the citizen tries to press the correct button, until the entire deck is depleted.

**Question**: At what threshold of correct guesses should the government consider it extremely likely the citizen has telepathic potential (<1% chance of reaching by random guessing)? Feel free to approximate.

**Assumptions**: The deck is perfectly random and can contain infinite duplicates. No cheating whatsoever occurs. No information leaks (except through telepathy).

**Hint**: Only trying values in [this tool](emathhelp.net/calculators/prob) is necessary to find the answer. The pre-loaded values show that there is a 44.05384% of chance of guessing more than 20 cards correctly without telepathic ability.
