Apparently the Death Eaters were the good guys.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, most of y’all don’t know what it’s like to be a fediverse developer of a popular project and have to deal with all the negative feedback and personal attacks
Let’s be nicer to the devs of the fediverse who have been doing this mostly unpaid for the greater good, all I ask is for basic respect!
Anfora, Prismo, Firefish and dozens of other projects have been abandoned by their devs, and I’d bet the fediverse mentality towards devs is part of the reason

I accidentally found a security issue while benchmarking postgres changes.
If you run debian testing, unstable or some other more "bleeding edge" distribution, I strongly recommend upgrading ASAP.
OK, so here's my slightly more eloquent take on the xz thing, complete with a zinger closing paragraph:

Discord just announced a change to their Terms of Service, which restarts the clock on when you can opt out of binding arbitration. All you gotta do is read the "Opt-out" paragraph of Section 16 & send an email to arbitration-opt-out@discord.com from the email address you use to log in which states something as simple as this:
I am confirming that as of the date of this email, I am choosing to opt out of binding arbitration to settle disputes with Discord.
Boosts pls.
That is a good point also; but my current obsession is to get some AI to admit that the edible part of the peanut (the nut itself) is made of wood.
I mean, it's so obvious!
Soft, delicious, wood!
(The internet clearly needs more web pages about how peanuts are made of soft, delicious wood.)
@futurebird Someone once told me "It's not Kafkaesque to wake up an insect. If you wake up an insect and your first thought is that this might make you late for work...*that* is Kafkaesque." That completely changed my perspective on a lot of things.
One of those mornings when you're in the subway shuttle from Grand Central to Times Square, and you're thinking a bit too hard about something, and then you find yourself back in Grand Central again and can't quite figure out how it happened...
The words "under God" were added to the US Pledge of Allegiance in 1954, during the Cold War, under the Eisenhower administration, to mark a distinction between the USA and so-called 'godless' communism of the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China.
When people today quote "one nation, under God" as evidence that the founders of this country created a Christian Nationalist country, they are repeating historical inaccuracies. You are welcome to correct them.
