Time for my #introduction. I've been in #UXDesign for 40 years, working at Apple in the 80s, Symbian, Google, and frogdesign.

I'm convinced we're stuck in our #UX ways, not seeing desktop, mobile, or ML for what they could be.

#OpenSource is a profoundly positive force, if we could just figure out how to work together on #UXDesign problems.

I've had a lot of conversation with recentralists over the past few weeks.

What is a recentralist? Someone who actively opposes decentralization and actively wants services like Mastodon to be recentralized.

Their rationale: people are too dumb to use the Internet and they need nannies.

They believe all ports should be closed because... security.

They hate self-hosting because... it will hurt you.

Yet look at the Internet now.

Does it seem safe and secure to you?

I haven’t done an #introduction post huh? I initially didn’t plan to because my main interests are already listed in my bio and I don’t want to give out too many details for privacy reasons.

So yeah. I’m from back when we were happy with a 12kbps connection. I have a wonderful cat named Patate, which means potato in French. Et oui, je parle français; I just tend to toot in English more because that’s what most of my followers use — mais un toot en fr c’est un pouêt et ça, j’adore!

I liked Dettifoss so much better on our second visit to it because we had great weather and no snow on the ground even though it was already late October. Our first visit was in late May and the whole area was still covered in snow and ice and, unfortunately, I wasn't dressed for cross country skiing type of terrain. Anyway, #Dettifoss is Europe's 2nd most powerful waterfall and #Iceland's 2nd largest waterfall. Pretty impressive in person!
