I've been enjoying listening to this person reading classic vintage (out of copyright!) #scienceFiction #shortStories aloud. At the moment:
Oh, absolutely! It still makes things up, for sure. It just doesn't seem to do it nearly as often or as enthusiastically as GPT3; and the blog page you link to there goes a way toward explaining why.
I'm afraid that, paradoxically, it not making stuff up as often will trick people into thinking it doesn't do it at all, and therefore trust it more than they should.
Antifa is an important leftist group / movement / etc. The right lies about it constantly, but their lies are lies. We should not give up the word to Tucker Carlson and the fascists.

I asked ChatGPT to write a 5 paragraph essay applying 3 concepts from one of my books to “a viral tiktok video.” It pulled three concepts that are really there (wow!), misdefined each one (LOL), and did not identify any particular video (LOL LOL LOL). Whoever said it has automated the art of overly confident yet completely wrong mansplaining was exactly right.

What a lovely conversation! Forgive me for coming in weeks later. :) I like very much what both of you said.
As an atheist / pantheist with a philosophy background :) I'll add that even the most thoroughgoing rationalist or empiricist must take something, or some cloud of things, more or less on faith, or at least without support, just because there is no given foundation.
If we come to a conclusion by reasoning from some premises, we must assume (if only provisionally) that our reasoning and our premises are correct, or at least correct enough to (provisionally) accept. If we see our conclusions in some more holistic light, as a mutually-justifying cloud say, we must still assume / have faith that the entire cloud is good enough to accept.
The, or a, question that remains is what sort of things we are willing, or eager, to accept unsupported like that. :)
