Please stop laughing at CatGPT. Please stop sharing this picture. It's not funny. This is a slippery slope. It might only meow for now, but what's next? What will our cats do if CatGPT takes their jobs? Do we really want artificial intelligence to sleep all day? To scoff at the $50 worth of cat food you just purchased? To knock your full glass of water over and feel zero remorse when it shatters on the floor? Call me a Luddite, but I believe we must destroy CatGPT to protect our feline friends.

This book shop in Rome, near piazza, Navona, carries signed copies of my book SHE SEDUCED ME: A LOVE AFFAIR WITH ROME.

Please support them by stopping by getting a copy. They are an independent bookstore. Right now we are making arrangements for me to do a public presentation of my book around the middle of September. Exciting.

OTHERWISE BOOKSHOP! @bookstodon #bookstodon

What is someone else's cheese?

Nacho cheese!

That one doesn't work as well written down; read it aloud if it's unclear. Another example where the question is nonsense until you hear the answer; love these.

What's the first thing you know?

Old Jed's a millionaire!

Okay, there must be someone out there that hadn't already heard it. I love this kind of humor, where the question doesn't even make sense until you hear the answer.

Every time I see some quantity of stuff described as "circling the world X times" or "from here to the moon and back", I imagine an episode of The Worlds' Most Dangerous Jobs where boats full of hard-bitten, grizzled sailors, stringing impossibly long lines of corn dogs across the Pacific, low low-earth-orbit astronauts piling huge stacks of Peeps miles up to the night sky.

In 1995 I was fascinated by this logo, and I still like how it looks today. It's a great mid-90s logo, with the serif font, the gradient, and the implied depth.

Netscape Navigator was a great product for the time. I wonder if any lines of code in Firefox, the browser I use now, survive from back then...

I like continuous mixes, but I keep finding albums that have silence between tracks yet still start every song at the end of the previous track. Often with just half the first note.

That isn't a continuous mix, it's a choice to annoy people whose music players don't do gapless playback.
