The memory of the tech industry for how people abuse their power is so short lived.

Watch who you follow. The #privacy and #SocialEngineering crowd is small.

So is #infosec overall.

When someone causes harm, there is collateral damage.

Watching some of them claim to be about privacy and protecting users when they've done active and public harm is nauseating.

Be mindful. Ask questions. Pay attention to patterns.

And support the communities and collectives you trust. Verify.

what I love is that this government will condemn Palestinians to death because of maybe 10 employees but is unwilling to discuss police reform because *checks notes* it's just a few bad apples.

Tell you what, being vocal about Health & Safety has been a very useful filter.

It's the same way being vocal about Codes of Conduct was 10 years ago.

Turns out, if somebody has an allergic reaction to proactive measures to keep a community healthy and safe, then they're probably not safe to have around in the first place.
