In the spirit of the season (?), The Kid used his Mario figurines from the Advent calendar to make a nativity scene. He's calling it his Nintendivity. I couldn't be more proud 😅

I don't normally get many (any) presents for Christmas, which is fine. I don't need anything. And I would rather my family spend money doing things together. But a friend sent me this and it is so wonderful. I can't wait to build it. It is something I thought was neat, but probably never would have bought for myself.

New project idea: tear open a spare transit card and fit the RFID contents into a toy train, like this one that Vancouver's transit agency is selling.

Fedfree is a website aimed at teaching people how to run their own servers, of various kinds, on libre operating systems e.g. Linux and BSD. It aims to do this, using libre software exclusively, teaching people about the importance of libre software and hardware as it pertains to freedom; the right to use, study, adapt, share. The right to read. Universal access to knowledge… education. Education is the goal.

Befriending crows is a wonderful thing.

I have many crow friends at home and at work. They bring joy at unexpected moments and can rescue a miserable day even without shaking down the dust of snow that Robert Frost described.
