You can learn AP US History, AP European History, AP World History but AP African American History is banned. Forbidden knowledge.

I vividly remember NOT signing up to take African American history when I was in high school some 20 years ago. I needed to score a scholarship to go to the schools I wanted-- and AP courses are just expected to get in. So I too AP Euro. Nearly everyone did. It was an OK course.

But that forbidden knowledge...

Today, the Chervonogorod Castle is a ruin with two towers near the city, which has long since disappeared. For many, they are similar to the fairy-tale "Two Towers" from Tolkien's saga "The Lord of the Rings". The castle is not protected, it is not registered as an architectural or historical monument. Neither conservation nor restoration work was carried out on the territory of the former fortress.

Blue Ghost fireflies have a delicate blue glow and their lights don’t blink. They hover 1-2 ft from the forest floor giving the impression the forest is full of gently floating fairies. They are only out 2 weeks a year in limited locations in the southeast US and it must be completely dark. No image will ever capture what it’s like to stand in a forest full of fairies. 💜🧚🏻

Fun fact - #layoffs are a social connection amongst businesses, and do little (to nothing) to actually help companies recover during economic downturns.

Don’t take my word for it - this comes from years of study and scholarly research:

I am just finishing up Winter War by Eric Rauchway (love it!) and also listened as an audiobook with my children John Scalzi’s The Dispatcher, which is a super fun, quick urban fantasy murder mystery novella audible.com/pd/The-Dispatcher- No idea what I’m reading next! @bookstodon

"The decisions that we make about technology and the policies that govern it are going to shape not just the next 10 years, but the entire future of human civilization. The stakes really are that high."

I spoke to #NPR about why #facialrecognition is more like nuclear weapons than it is like guns or alcohol. It should be banned for all use in places of public accommodation.

Okay, I got my shit together and blogged about this thing.

I want a fridge that won't join a botnet
rys.io/en/164.html

> I could put such devices on a special VLAN, or behind a Pi Hole, but 99% of people can’t. Plus, it’s work. Plus, most importantly, you can bet that “smart” devices will start coming with SIM cards and 4g/5g modems very soon — cars already do. Why does my fridge need Internet connectivity in the first place?

Hey #IoT #InfoSec fediverse, there seems to be a general understanding there are "smart" devices (Smart Tvs etc) that will not allow you to use them unless you connect them to the Internet so that they can call home. As in, they won't even function as a dumb HDMI screen.

However, I cannot find any source on this online. Anyone has a specific link, brand name, model, example of this? I am pretty sure this is true, just want to have a specific example.

Thanks!
