This week we published the awesome first detection of the polarised radio emission from the intergalactic space in between 600,000 pairs of matter halos, which convinced us to have conclusively detected the shocked cosmic web.

Why do we think it is such a big deal?

The thing I’ll never get over is conservatives complaining they can’t say what they think anymore. Is there anything more inescapable in modern life than the ceaseless monotonous drumbeat of conservatives all telling all the rest of us everything they all think?

In a new paper, a transdisciplinary collective of scientists argues that “interaction is at the heart of cognition".

I agree—and interaction is at the heart of events too!

I'm also going to be teaching a remote & asynchronous class on voice & perspective.

We'll examine a variety of narration techniques and the opportunities & challenges of each.

Topics include: POV, filtering, personality, sensibility, reliability, secrets & mystery, omniscience, tense, narrative distance, curation of objects, narrative strategy, & some other strange stuff

Starts Mar. 15

This exchange perfectly sums up how the Tories view the UK

They and their class are ‘hard working’ which entitles them to immense wealth and opportunities, with cronyism/nepotism ensuring their superiority

The ‘ordinaries’ struggling to pay bills on low wages are ‘lazy’ and ‘greedy’ and must be punished

Those with no idea of how life is experienced for the great majority of us, should NEVER be allowed to make policy affecting or destroying the lives of millions

As I’ve said, the Fediverse is much larger than duplicating Twitter. These kinds of academic communities rarely evolved on Twitter. Humanity’s brightest are setting up shop to move social networking to the next level.

Eve Arnold was born in Philadelphia, PA. She began photographing in 1946, while working at a photo-finishing plant in NYC. She studied photography in 1948 at the New School for Social Research in NYC.
.
Arnold's images of Marilyn Monroe on the set of The Misfits were perhaps her most memorable and quite good. But I think this photo of model Drusilla Beyfus, taken in New York City, 1956, is exceptional.

(Beyfus reminds me some of Lena Horne in this photo.)
