A lot of CS undergrad programs have a "business of computing" course that teaches the basics of entrepreneurship. I've never seen one that included lessons on labor rights or that explained how big firms abuse near-monopoly positions through e.g. regulatory capture. If you have, I'd be grateful for pointers - thanks.

Trial done and in the hands of the jury.

Ineffective attempts to impugn my testimony. Hints to anyone acting as an expert witness:

1. Don’t be an advocate for anything but the truth
2. Be scrupulous about telling the truth, including “I don’t know” when appropriate
3. Put in the work to be sure of your conclusions
4. Don’t work for weasels or trolls.
5. It’s not your money at stake, so see #1-4.

Actually, 1-4 are good advice for all of life!

read up on the 'non-human alien corpses' shown to Mexican politicians yesterday, and big deal, here in the United States many of our actual serving politicians could be described as 'non-human alien corpses'. Next.

I got my COVID booster yesterday, along with an RSV shot.

The improved 5G coverage and ability to see into the ultraviolet are real benefits. I can’t wait for the welcome gifts from the Illuminati.

I'm not saying we should definitely pay Hannah Waddington to follow Trump around every single day chanting "shame". I'm just saying if America splits the bill 81,282,916 ways, this is surprisingly affordable.

I spent part of my afternoon procrastinating from other work by remastering a bunch of 20-year-old music tracks to make them NOT sound like they're slathered in bit rot, and along the way found an old remix I made of a 2001 Depeche Mode song. Listen if you dare:

Good time to remind people that instead of being a scab, John Oliver is currently on tour expressly to raise money to pay the writers who currently can’t make his show.
Now that's how you show solidarity!

Today was ... interesting. If you followed me for the past months over on the shitbird site, you might have seen a bunch of angry German words, lots of graphs, and the occassional news paper, radio, or TV snippet with yours truely. Let me explain.

In Austria, inflation is way above the EU average. There's no end in sight. This is especially true for basic needs like energy and food.

Our government stated in May that they'd build a food price database together with the big grocery chains. But..

The downsides of being frugal.

The #OpenStreetMap Foundation spends, even with a slightly more ambitious budget this year than previously, less than %1 of what WMF/Wikipedia does, but is struggling to make ends meet.

There is no threat a la the infamous Wikipedia ads that the project will shut down, but without the funds activities will have to be cut back significantly.
