One thing that might help cis people (and many trans people as well, tbh) is just to understand that there is a LOT of variety among trans people and their experiences. A GUT of gender would have to account for all of them. (I am not personally in possession of such a theory.)

The legacy of journalism in 2024 is that the public went into a fateful presidential election grossly, systematically ill-informed. It is so telling that not a single journalist even *mentioned* that basic fact.

Treating the murder of the United Healthcare CEO the same way society treats violence against trans people:

- He was shot just walking into work? I mean what did he expect with his risky lifestyle choices.

- You know CEOs have a really high rate of suicide. If he just had a normal job he would probably still be alive today.

- Extra security? I just don't think we should pander to the whims of a group that's less than 1% of the population.

- I don't hate CEOs I just hate how the right keeps pushing their agenda down my throat.

- OMG stop talking about CEOs, what am I going to tell my children?

- The shooter probably just panicked when he found out he was really a CEO in disguise. It's his fault he was murdered really.
