Chain up required for I-80 at Donner Pass and at Dunsumuir on I-5 both in California.

Chains required on I-90 at Homestake Pass in Montana.

Snow on all roads in northeast Nevada and southeast Idaho as well, with Winter Storm Warnings out for the mountains in the Salt Lake City area.

Additional high winds for the deserts of eastern California up through Las Vegas with rain moving in. Very ugly election day weather for California/Nevada in particular.

Preparing for a late-week blizzard in the Dakotas and Minnesota - 1st of the season.

I had a brilliant developer work for me, and he wrote applications that have formed the new basis for what I do and will shape the future of the industry.

But what most people remember him for was a lookup in a shared spreadsheet that would pop up an email that was pre-addressed and pre-headed to highlight an issue, saving 300 people about 2 minutes of search 20+ times a day. He wrote it in about 20 minutes because he was annoyed at looking emails up manually.

Election day forecast for Elko, NV:

Some light snow on the ground for Elko in the morning, but strong winds with gusts up to 45mph. Cold front pusheS through on the afternoon with new snow of another 2 to 4 in town and more to the south and in higher elevations. Temps bottom out overnight.

Rough forecast pretty much anywhere for Nevada and California.

I'm told in Nevada this favors early and urban voters who are Democrats.

America "falls back" 1 hour at 2am tonight to end Daylight Saving time for the year.

A wonderful holiday in which most people get an extra hour of sleep!

2 to 3 feet of snow for Donner Pass on I-80 in California starting late Sunday through Tuesday. Pass height is 7200ft.

Expect chain controls, potential closure on Monday.
