We need more neph content on #mastodon, everyone at @SevenOaksCDIC (@NavTangri @BohmClara @paulkomenda and sorry @CRigsMb I know you just got forced onto twitter) let's go

Another reminder that you can help colleagues find you by adding your information to the #MedMastodon Yellow Pages. Totally optional but a nice way to help build community if you feel comfortable sharing.

For an NSF grant form, I had to write down the names of all coauthors in the last 48 months. Apparently, I co-authored journal publications with 40 (!!) different researchers in the last 4 years!! What a fantastic thing it is to collaborate in science!!!

@hswapnil @mike_johansen This is cool! We are working on medication specific guidelines to harmonize prescriptions of #Flozins, #GLP1ra, #nsMRA etc across #primarycare, #cardiology, #endocrinology and #nephrology, which has been a fun project. I think at our institution, nephrology prescribed most aggressively, but that is probably the effect of having Amy Mottl in our division.

In 1938, kindergarten teacher Helen Hulick wore slacks to court to testify as a witness in Los Angeles, CA. Judge Arthur Guerin was appalled & rescheduled the case, instructing her to “return in a dress.”

The next day, Hulick showed up in slacks again, declaring, “I will stand on my rights…I like slacks. They’re comfortable.”

She was sent to jail. web.archive.org/web/2021031514

Far more people will happily wear a mask if there is a mandate than if there isn’t.

I’ve worked in and for hundreds of cities all over the world. The cities that are doing amazing and innovative things aren’t cities with ideal weather, or topography, or size, or demographics, or wealth, or regulatory systems/powers, or even politics.

They’re the cities that have stopped making excuses.

microscopic #hematuria, which is persistent, may be at increased risk of #CKD - hard to see all in secondary care though long term so clarify plan in letters to primary care physicians ….

🚨 A common misconception is that we do not need to focus on #LongCovid because most people get well over time. Turns out that this is not true. A new meta-analysis shows that symptoms on average decrease by 50% during the first month but then stabilize. valueinhealthjournal.com/artic

It's basic physics... saying masks don't work (they literally filter aerosols containing the virus!), is like saying gravity is a myth.

It's not just how high the peaks get, it's how not-low the troughs are now.

"Here are the key points:
You can catch Covid multiple times.
Reinfections are common, not rare.
Breakthrough infections are common.
Covid can kill you months after you recover.
It can cause brain damage.
It can cause blood clots and heart attacks.
It doesn’t spare children.
Vaccines help, but only some.
Masks work."
