@freemo @commandelicious @Demo318 It starts early, here in Scotland at least. Interest is about even between m/f early in primary school and gets more and more uneven as kids get older. Even those women who study STEM in uni don't often go into STEM jobs. Initial evenness means we can only assume it's societal influence rather than natural, which means we *can* change it.

@commandelicious While we have some wonderful female contributors they are sadly a minority. It is no surprise that a STEM instance would reflect the democgraphic in the world. With that said I would be the first to welcome a change where more Women go into STEM and have an interest in the topic. But sadly it just doesnt seem to be as appealing to women as it is for men and that makes me sad :( @Demo318

thank you for your support so far will share from many diff sources to share the word of gaming and tech

@Demo318 You'd be amazed just how rarely I need to set anyone straight around here. Everyone on QOTO has been completely excellent to each other. I love that!

Fun little note, @Demo318 was our 800'th user. I wonder who will be #1000!? At the pace we are currently gaining users on QOTO it will probably be by the weekend or before.

Ok, I know, I know, praising Mastodon and all.

What I get here: Nice people. Information about stuff I really enjoy. Tons of cat pictures. Interesting people and engagement. Friendly conversation. I am having fun sharing stuff I made or knowledge I aquired.
Good to have you all!

Finally! A bulk goods trader ship passed by and that one actually had muffalos on board! I immediately bought a male muffalo for my female muffalo!

I think I probably should get rid of my gajillion cows and alpacas as soon as there are more muffalos. The muffalo can deliver milk and wool all in one package! Can't get more compact than that! #games #RimWorld

Also: muffalo muffalo muffalo!

I have posted some pictures somewhere but I've found the best picture I have of me. It was 2008. Time flies.
Then something to smile, and the last one is me now (or well, a month ago)

@commandelicious You mentioned needing more cats on your Home feed. This is my cat, Murphy, as a kitten. My wife picked out the bowtie. I'll have to find some more recent pics of him.

Culture is fun.
So there is this brit who moved to Germany 20ish years ago and produces videos about culture in Germany, differences random fun facts and all that.

Sidewink to @freemo => If you find the time, I'd really like to read or hear about what your experiences as an american in the Netherlands are. If you haven't already, otherwise: GIMME LINK <3

We are 6 more users away from 800 users on QOTO. Thats 50 new users in less than 24 hours. Wow I can't believe all the attention we are getting. Love you all!

Needless to say: I didn't know any of that before I played that nation.
What I also did not know was that the east coast of Africa was well settled thickly and full of big trading posts and cities.
"Africa was full of savages!" is a myth at best and a lie at worst.

I play Grand Strategy games, but why?

So, Europa Universalis 4 is one of my favourite games.
So I started to look at some interesting nations/countries to play and came Ajuran (EU4 uses the somali transliteration Ajuuraan)
It has some very nice ideas, basically strength you can use.
Naturally I read up on it, the history and how it came to be.
"In the 13th century AD, the Ajuran Empire was the only hydraulic empire in Africa. As an hydraulic empire, the Ajuran monopolized the water resources of the Shebelle and Jubba rivers."
In game terms it makes it easier to develop provinces.
I love alternative history, so what would have happened if Ajuuraan had colonized/settled large areas of land and expanded over the entire east coast of Africa?
