PI call at Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle de Lyon (IGFL)

'We have an opening for an independent group leader (junior or established). Talented scientists leading research falling within the scientific scope of the Institute are encouraged to apply. We are seeking to increase the number of women team leaders and will particularly welcome applications from women scientists.'

“I don’t begrudge any industry scepticism,” adds Crews, who knows how long it took industry to take PROTACs seriously. “The onus is on us to demonstrate the utility of the creative fruits of our labours. We may not fully, at this point, appreciate what those opportunities are, but that shouldn’t stop us from being creative.”

"No one should be mistaken about what unfolded over the past few days in the U.S. banking system: These recent bank failures are the direct result of leaders in Washington weakening the financial rules."

The Forest of Biologists.

For each paper published by Company of Biologists this year and next there will be a real tree planted (and a virtual tree to look at on your computer). Reviewing activity is recognised with restoration and preservation of ancient woodland.

Massive shout out to Steve Kelly (EiC of @BiologyOpen) for the wonderful idea and to all the CoB staff who made it happen.

"During my postdoc, while collaborating with the lab of Steve Gygi, I learned how proteomics can be done on small amounts of material. This has been crucial for us since we have little material working with oocytes, a cell type in which there is very little correlation between mRNA and protein levels. Now, I'm looking forward to similar improvements in metabolomics, so that we can apply it more widely to our projects."

'A ministra do Interior britânica, Suella Braverman, anunciou um pacote de medidas anti-imigração que pretende impedir a entrada de imigrantes ilegais através do Canal da Mancha. A legalidade das medidas é altamente questionável. Já a desumanidade não. Os imigrantes ilegais passarão a ser recebidos no Reino Unido da seguinte forma: serão detidos e reenviados de volta ao país de origem ou para o Ruanda, com quem foram estabelecidos protocolos para o efeito.'
