Structural insights into p300 regulation and #acetylation-dependent genome organisation
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-35375-2
- #alphafold model of p300 suggests that the TAZ2 domain is positioned over the p300 HAT active site
- #alphafold model in the presence of NUT AD shows that the TAZ2 domain is displaced from the HAT active site and suggest that the TAZ2 domain auto-inhibits the HAT domain
- domain truncation and #mutagenesis support the #computational #models !

New platform, new #introduction
I'm a neuroAI researcher and neurotechnology consultant. I'm interested in the intersection of neuroscience and AI: what can AI teach us about how the brain works, and how can we use that knowledge to help people with neurological disorders thrive?
I've worked on this question in academia, in industry (Google, Meta) and in non-profits (Neuromatch). I write papers but some of my most high-impact writing is on my long-running blog, xcorr.net. I'm also the author of the good research code handbook, teaching students how to write code that doesn't bite back, goodresearch.dev.
'The seizure of Z-Library was the latest episode in an ongoing tussle between shadow libraries and state authorities. In 2015, when the academic publishing giant Elsevier took LibGen and Sci-Hub to court in the US, the sites were found to be in breach of copyright regulations and ordered to pay $15 million in damages (they didn’t). In 2020, Elsevier teamed up with Wiley and the American Chemical Society to sue the sites again, this time in Delhi; the case is ongoing, but seems likely to go the publishers’ way. Yet shadow libraries remain effectively impossible to prosecute, let alone abolish'

Hello #ScienceMastodon. We are the British Society for Developmental Biology.
We are here to immerse ourselves in the #DevBioMastodon universe and to keep you informed about the meetings we organise, the grants we give out and all the other good things that we do.
Need a place to send beginner students for microbiome-relevant computational biology training?
For the past 3 years, we have built a virtual course and symposium, attracting over 4,000 registrants from >80 countries.
All materials are freely available, and courses materials can be run/viewed on-demand.
Check it out, and if you like it, please share with your networks! https://isbscience.org/microbiome2022/
BTW, news.twtr.plus pretty much relays all the news accounts that are general news between the birb and here. It's even got the French news I follow.
Go to their main site and look for the account you want or just try to find it by doing a search for the birb @ plus the address of @news.twtr.plus. Super handy.
It unfortunately relays in batches but it's still nice to have news here.
Tip I wish I'd learned earlier: follow #hashtags. Here's how:
1. Type your hashtag into search (e.g. #introduction )
2. Click the specific best hit in the results.
3. Click the little person with a + symbol on them to follow that hashtag as if it were an account.
Great way to find #newusers from the #twittermigration and posts relevant to your interests!

"The change was pushed by three new school board members, elected in May with support from Patriot Mobile, a self-described Christian cellphone carrier. Through its political action committee, Patriot Mobile poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into Texas school board races to promote candidates with conservative views on race, gender and sexuality — including on which books children can access at school."

What would be a greater opportunity for my first post here other than announcing my first (first-author) paper? A thread:
Despite the increasing attention on the oral microbiome, until now we didn't have a good idea about how it evolves in the wild! In our new publication with Adrian Forsythe, @jfy133, Jaelle Brealey, Christina Warinner & Katerina Guschanski we investigate exactly this! 🦷🦠 https://doi.org/10.1093/molbev/msac263
#Drosophila #Advent Day15: A new genus with Scaptomyza pallida, a widespread species that breeds as a generalist on decaying plants https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.1007/BF00317362.pdf . Sister to the overly flamboyant Hawaiian Drosophila (#Idiomyia), the genus #Scaptomyza either invaded #Hawaii twice or evolved there and escaped three times https://academic.oup.com/genetics/article/209/1/1/5930949 . It is easy to sweep-net pallida from herbs or compost, and while these individuals may not look very pallid, other ones are more so http://www.drosophila.jp/jdd/class/030706/03070609.pdf
An ancient Egyptian "masterpiece" painting of birds flying and perching within a verdant marsh is so detailed, modern researchers can tell exactly which species artisans illustrated more than 3,300 years ago.
