@futurebird Musk is an unstable abusive drug-addled bigot with too much money and power and I'll be damned if I give him free content and traffic to monetize. He won't notice but my friends will: I don't drink in Nazi bars.
Leaving Twitter was hard - leaving so many people, so much history and culture behind. But boycotts don't mean much if they're easy - I never ate at Chick-Fil-A or shopped at Walmart or Hobby Lobby anyway so no great loss.
Was it effective? My main goal was having a Twitter-like community without supporting a Nazi bat so I mostly succeeded. As for convincing others to leave - not sure I made a dent, not sure if I even considered that as a goal. I sleep better knowing my neighbors and admin aren't Musk and I'm not putting money in Space Karen's pocket.
