For those asking, I'm bet-hedging myself while I wait to see what happens. So you'll find me now on:

(Although Mastodon is the only one I'm cross-posting to right now).
KJU is on a missile launching spree.

UPDATE: North Korea launched 3 short-range ballistic missiles between 9:35 and 9:49 p.m. KST from Koksan in North Hwanghae Province (on the west coast) into the East Sea, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in an update Thursday night. https://www.nknews.org/2022/11/north-korea-says-us-rok-decision-to-extend-drills-an-irreversible-mistake/

Great thread on what happens to an organisation when trust suddenly drops below a threshold. I don't think this is quite the same as "Tipping Point".

@mfowler
With your large number of followers you have a voice.
If you start cross posting from fediverse to twitter , it sends a message and might encourage your followers to give the fediverse a real try.
The cross post will still be seen by all your followers on twitter.
Thoughtworks is a thought leader, is it not?
You are without doubt.
@mfowler
When I see cw I think there is something behind that could be harmful . I read it as a trigger warning.
But that might be caused by me also being new on the platform.
@mfowler I just made my second post on this very topic… my view moving forward, as a former IFTTT re-poster, is to make cross-posting an exception not the rule. If posting a link to something particularly interesting, or to my own content (rarely an intersection) fine, but otherwise why have two accounts posting the same things?
Like the target=_blank vs right-click new tab decision, let the user decide. IMHO.
@mfowler Another option is to source post to Mastodon & then push the content to twitter with a bridge.

In an @AerospaceCorp@twitter.com briefing, Ted Muelhaupt says the risk of any casualties from the upcoming CZ-5B renter is between 1:1000 and 1:230, far worse than the internationally accepted threshold of 1:10,000. But the risk to you individually, though, is very small: 6 in 10 trillion.

I see now that the boosting option here doesn't take into account the #xp switch - mainly because boosting by it's nature doesn't include hashtags :)
But this quote toot should still work.
@davoloid you can’t add hashtags to RTs / boosts. So, if you turn on RT/boost crossposting - it posts them. Uncheck it if you don’t want that.
This could be better explained / documented.

Thinking about setting up a Mastodon server focused on #journalism and #journalists. May have registered the domain “federated.press” … anyone interested in that? cc @Gargron
I may also be able to #xp to Twitter if this works?
I've started to post some notes on my explorations with Mastodon at https://martinfowler.com/articles/exploring-mastodon.html
Amplifying for reach.
Can someone help answer these accessibility questions for new Mastodon users?
This is pretty important, and will affect if I can keep recommending Mastodon as a platform.
Well this feels timely and relevant. (via @MadelineCarr on the bird site)

Not just the data/walled gardens element, but “If our citizens lose trust in #AI because they believe it discriminates against them and leads to outcomes that are harmful to their lives,” he says, “they are going to shun AI, and it will never be successful.”
Keeping this handy in case we ever create a local instance. I suspect there will be a lot of shaking out over the next few weeks. This of course is one of the benefits of #mastodon and the #fediverse
Just another worried little citizen of this modern-day Pompeii. Techie at UCL, working on Process Automation with MS Power Platform. Scatterbrain, interested in education, languages, Space and lots of disparate things. sorry.
Keeping my space toots at @astrodad as an experiment in self-moderation :)
