Just tried ChatGPT. I asked it a series of specific Qs about areas I've studied in detail.
On all Qs, it gave answers that are plausible sounding but wrong. Not obviously wrong: wrong in subtle ways that need deep domain knowledge to grasp.
The ways humans will be practically misled by this kind of tech if trusted with, say, doling out medical, legal or business advice is horrific.
Letting this tech loose on the world will further destroy search engines that are already riddled with SEO BS.
Michelle Mone
WHAT!?… the facemasks supplied by the Michelle Mone-linked PPE company cost 38.5p each from them.
They were 14.5p from other suppliers. THE SAME MASKS FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURER.
And our govt bought nearly 50 million of these items with our money - without competition.
The Times are reporting on this and it’s looking bad —> https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/michelle-mone-masks-from-firm-linked-to-tory-peer-cost-double-6ctlhmjpx
Tories: We got Brexit done.
Labour: We'll make Brexit work.
Binface: Stop the shitshow.

Day 5 of #Drabvent. It’s 1976 with that typical mode of transport: showgirls dragging a bloke on a sled across the Birmingham NEC car park
Re previous boost: in hindsight it's astonishing that Tolkien had not twigged that Geography defines History... We see that from the cotton belt of America to the banks of the Dnipro.
Or maybe he did but that was going to be far too complex to map out as well as the language and culture and the magical elements. He had not reckoned upon 21st century nerds.
This is lovely. Alex Acks points out the problems with Tolkien’s map of the Middle Earth.
TL;DR the mountains are wrong, and so are the rivers

Serendipity/Neighbours: The elderly Phillipina lady upstairs was heading out to a christening with two massive bags of Pandan cake. Offered us a big chunk and we were able to give her a lift up the road to the community centre, on the way to getting Xmas tree.
Take time to say hi to your neighbours, not 100% on the concept of karma but the good feeling of being able to help out cannot be underestimated.
Was sent a Twitter link where a Mastodon post of mine got shared.
I'll now respond to a counter-argument:
1. In the case of Twitter, media ownership literally is like land ownership because:
2. Elon owns the server farm that hosts your tweets
3. "The Cloud" is not some ethereal thing, it's physical
4. Elon Musk has hegemony because he has physical access to Twitter -- you do not
5. You're dismantling nothing by staying on Twitter
See screenshot of argument to my post.

Nadhim Zahawi said this morning it would cost £10bn to give nurses a proper pay rise, so it’s unaffordable.
Know what else cost us exactly £10bn? His Government’s sleazy procurement process which led to millions of items of defective and unsuitable PPE https://twitter.com/lbc/status/1599340710242750466

This is your daily reminder that free speech is not a synonym for hate speech.
Hate speech is the anti-free speech, weaponised speech intended to intimidate and silence others. People who call hate speech "free speech" do not support or protect the speech of others.
When you use free speech as a euphemism for hate speech, you help them spread the idea that free speech is bad into popular culture, which is the first step in dismantling it.
Call hate speech what it is.
Psychotherapy podcaster is here! Yay!
I am really pleased because I have just spotted @richardnicholls is on Mastodon.
I started following him a while back on birdsite after finding his excellent #Psychotherapy #podcast episodes. These are free but you can subscribe via Patreon and subsidise free sessions for people in need in the Midlands.
They're very down to earth, chatty episodes, like catching up with your mate over a coffee who just knows exactly the right things to guide you through a rough patch.
I cannot recommend enough for anyone dealing with #mentalhealth, #anxiety in the life of themselves or others, or maybe just wants to be better at practising #mindfullness in every day situations.
On that note I'm going to catch up with recent episodes whilst clearing out the rabbits.

@richardnicholls So pleased you are here!
Just another worried little citizen of this modern-day Pompeii. Techie at UCL, working on Process Automation with MS Power Platform. Scatterbrain, interested in education, languages, Space and lots of disparate things. sorry.
Keeping my space toots at @astrodad as an experiment in self-moderation :)
