SAVAGED
The media tributes to Paul O'Grady (and his alter-ego Lily Savage) strip him of his politics and smooth away the sharp edges that enhanced his greatness
To kill a French vampire, you need to drive a baguette through their heart. That might sound easy, but I assure you, it's painstaking.

As I’ve said before: when the director of Children of Men was asked how he made his future fascist Britain feel so grounded and authentic, he said he looked at the country in 2005 and asked himself - what would happen if it continued just like this, on this precise trajectory. https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1639544703975837699
Well at least they'll have secure, warm accommodation and meals provided... right? Right?
Older versions can be installed. Mar 2 reverts the home screen but the music page is still broken and tiny.

Somebody mentioned #Spotify trying to be more like Instagram, and *bam* overnight they have completely destroyed the mobile app. The interface has become unusable, presenting me with tracks that I have to say "Not Interested" in rather than the helpful selections and excellent Daily Mixes that came up before. These cards have to be swiped through like the crappy social media apps. Font size has broken too.
It's happening! Starship orbital test within the fortnight!
Just seen a stunning advert for showing the daily struggles of a teenager with #ASD. Incredibly close to our situation, so had me hooked. Was surprised to find the product was for Vanish stain remover, the point being that clothing is often an important comfort #Autism. So caring for those fabrics is important.
Well done #Vanish
Got the kiddo a drum kit for her birthday (electronic, obv, for reasons of preserving sanity) and the first thing she does is bang out the intro to reggae classic "Girlie Girlie".

Proud moment.
*waves at all the wonderful trans people with whom I get to chat and interact. I'm so glad you are here. I wish you were as welcome everywhere, and hope that day will come soon.*
Yay, was just wondering the other day when we were going to get another #WesAnderson flick! #AsteroidCity coming out in June.

Have dropped off of involvement the last year or so but we have a showcase for UCL's technical staff in the cloisters today.
Probably not quite your area but are you here @eLearningTechie ?
Great thread reflecting on how much of an impact Paul O'Grady had on UK culture wrt LGBT+ acceptance.
1/ CONQUERING CRIMEA: PART 1
Since 2014, Crimea has been under Russian control. Ukraine, naturally, wants it back. But what does history show about the challenges of reconquering it? In a series of threads, I'll look at the lessons of past wars.
Crimea's fascinating military history has been of interest to me for many years – I travelled there in the early 2000s to study its old battlefields, so some of this will be drawn from personal recollections and notes.
Just another worried little citizen of this modern-day Pompeii. Techie at UCL, working on Process Automation with MS Power Platform. Scatterbrain, interested in education, languages, Space and lots of disparate things. sorry.
Keeping my space toots at @astrodad as an experiment in self-moderation :)
