#Friday #headspace is fine.
@tazgetroete

The hashtag becomes the primary way to find people talking about similar topics, and it means that finding new people often requires users to think more broadly in their interests than they might otherwise.
search is a solved problem #hashtags
I've learned that there is an existing strong Mastodon culture. See the Hugh Rundle piece I posted yesterday, and then this, about why search here is the way it is: https://midrange.tedium.co/issues/how-mastodon-search-works/
Now, the way things are going, quite possibly 95% of connected people across Mastodon will be recent arrivals pretty soon.
Culture can’t be enforced, it has to be proselytized.
Tl;dr: This is somewhere between fascinating and scary.
I found this a super worthwhile re-read: https://knightcolumbia.org/content/protocols-not-platforms-a-technological-approach-to-free-speech

Wow I mention Mastodon in passing on stage at #CYBERWARCON during a speaker intro and an audience of ~350 interrupts me with spontaneous cheers and applause
@freemo Thanks for detailed explanation & history. I'm even happier being on QOTO with that info in hand. This seems like a great community.

it's a movie on yt about a gang of teens that climb enormous fig trees! [1/2]
even as a #climbing enthusiast that grew in a land with tons of #ficus #trees - some are quite similar in shape to the complex shape of the strangler #fig (made by aerial roots that drop and turn into earth roots, and merge with the trunk or form another trunk) - i could not have imagined that tree climbing could be exciting.
