They haven't posted a single Byte, which is my firs criteria, plus not been here in 12 months -- so there seems to be no bonds formed.
They are welcome to re-signup, in the future, just applying under the current system that requires some answers to some basic questions -- and it's surprising HOW FEW bother to reply to those.
We delete tons of these daily. How much would they add to the instance?
Qoto is important to me since it has a Focus, a Theme, the reason I chose to join and am still here, very active and pouring my heart and time into building this community.
If it was or became a General instance, I would leave and find a better home. I am thankful for the changes in registrations for having improved things.
The barrier to re-entry is about 4 inches tall.
* new email used to signup, and ignored mostly afterwards (how many do we all have?)
* a new username, maybe JoeUser2 if their JoeUser has been nuked.
Sorry not sorry, Joe.
Really. Come on.
Well they cant just pick a new username. They would be locked from signing back up due to their e-mail. They would get an amibuous error about already having an account even though the account is deleted.
So would require them email the moderators and we would have to go in and unsuspend the account. Changing user names wouldnt help.
...using a Different email address, is this really a problem in 2020 ??
I guess that depends on the person. I think most people only use a single personal email address.
The big issue for me is simply that not a single actual benefit has been stated for removing old accounts, and a whole lot of annoyances and negative side effects (even if they are minimal) have been listed.
I simply dont see where the value proposition is in any way.
> I think most people only use a single personal email address.
Holly Molly. We are a Stem instance and people can't grasp the concept of a secondary email? I am 100% certain that anyone seriously interested in being here has no problem with that sense.
We are not asking for anything exotic, like a BitCoin wallet address or such oddity. Overruled, imo.
I also want to comment on the General Instance point... its a tangent and unrelated to the main topic but important.
We are somewhere between the idea of a typical themed instance and a General Instance, and always have been.
Posts are not restricted to a theme, as you know. It is only our members who are.
People can and always have been able to post on any subject, but members must be in STEM. To me this is more about ensuring high quality, fact based, discussions with maturity and respect than it is about forcing a particular topic onto the time line.
With that said with everyone being STEM professionals there would be a natural leaning towards STEM topics. But certainly not a requirement.

Yeah I joined for that reason, wanted an instance where the content had some sort of focus.
Are you saying you would perfer it if we enforced a full on theme in content (delete posts not 100% STEM related)... or do you find the current rule of simply being a STEM professional with minimal restriction ont he content one posts (the way it is now) as the ideal?
@freemo @design_RG @thecosmicawakening
No, i just commented I joined here because it was stem related.
I think most of my posts to my blog are tech / STEM related here, They get federated here automatically.
@design_RG
Keep in mind they **can not** signup again later once we suspend them. We would have to be contacted directly and go in and unsuspend them to allow them to joint he system after its deleted. They couldnt use the usual singup process a second time.
