@design_RG @freemo
If I set up a thread on Discourse to support remote learning (within STEM topics ) it it better to invite people to mastodon first then from here invite them to the discourse instance ?
I would like to move a casual support forum to here and discourse as where it is right now just isn't working at all.
As we are STEM related, then I guess this includes computing and computer science, so hopefully it can be somewhere to collate links to say game design courses for example.
Thanks
Paul
I would suggest you could request a subforum from Freemo, who can create of for your project -- and then you can invite people to join Discourse and use it.
The Projects area is here : https://discourse.qoto.org/c/PROJ/5
If they like to join us here in the instance, the normal admission requirements apply, they can go to the front door and fiil in a request.
I would say the requirements to join here are the same as the forum.. that being they have to be a STEM-interested individual. Given the nature of the forum you want that seems likely.
By the way I'd be happy to create a sub-project under the projects section for you if you wish, but just one curiosity.. if they are here to learn why not just use the forum as is. we already divide subjects out in their own section. Learning is part of our mission so why not just integrate them with QOTO general and use the existing forums as the learning space?
I really think Paul's group would benefit from their own subforum -- the forum structure as it is is labyrinthine for someone just arriving. A direct link to their own subforum would greatly focus things.
BTW --- I was going to ask -- Could I propose a new Pinafore Client subforum?
It is wonderful software and has no home or proper documentation in the Fedi or Web. I plan to develop written manual for it, but a forum can offer dialogue and a place for Q&A, etc.
Would advertize it widely if we got one. Under Projects. Email not needed for it, I think
@design_RG
ill do it shortly and let you know
