@hansw I understand the use case, yes.
And I think I have a better suggestion -- instead of posting the full content here, maybe a static webpage with the encrypted content.
And a message/toot here with a pointer to it.
This assumes the content is larger in size than the URL and justifies the effort.
Only curious people (who can't decipher it) or the intended recipients (who can) would see and use that short URL post. Minimal transfer and storage to achieve the desired results, I would think.
Again, I am speaking my opinions, but there could be people out in Fedi irked by transport and storage of undecypherable content.
I've actually wanted exactly this but havent seen a good solution for it.
There used to be SILC (wasnt really CMPP but was end to end pgp text chat adapted off the IRC protocol). I really liked it but it never took off.
I didnt read the whole thread yet, just the OP. But the missing piece is just a good solution that gives us what we want I think. What are even our options right now?
