I lived thru those times, went to University and only had my first calculator then, 1st year Uni, same time when I got the Introduction to Programming course. And then a following course, which applied computing to Numerical Calculus problems.
Really enjoyed writing it, all of it ws here, posted on an inspired moment, chatting with @k11m1 -- and I knew it would be a good Blog post.
It's long, but can't chop it in pieces. Hope people will enjoy it.
I should think about a Masters degree in History of Technology, it's something that always attracted me. But I love this -- researching, organizing, presenting materials, promoting ideas and pushing for action.
Much more than boring academic work, journals, etc. Still, it could be a possibility.
