In Visual Studio Code for Mac, what determines the environment variables of VSCode and the processes it spawns?

More specifically ("what are you trying to do?"): When Visual Studio Code invokes msbuild (for example, launch.json contains a "type":"dotnet" "request":"launch") and the msbuild contains an <Exec> task, what $PATH does that <Exec> use? Can this $PATH be configured on a per-system basis?

@rivetgeek Intel just now announced next-gen CPUs with an NPU suitable for running this crap ("Lunar Lake"). And there are rumours about them pushing Recall onto Win11 machines that *don't* have an NPU, because Line Must Go Up or something.

I'm just glad, as an Apple user, that Microsoft jumped on this particular landmine first: the probability of Apple announcing anything like this functionality at WWDC next week must now be approximately zero.

@Edent keybase died long ago of feature bloat and an acute cryptocurrency infection. Pity really, I would still like to have what it was trying to do at the start.
