@piofthings @neil just take what it would be, round up to end in ".99p". It helps people who are less good at math I guess?

An example of what can happen when devs are involved much earlier: I worked with a company that were gearing up to spend ££££££ on a solution to the problem of getting too many orders wrong.

The lead dev spent a day in a call centre, and noticed reps rarely read the order back to the customer.

Since there’s been a resurgence lately of the “mastodon is mostly just for folks who use Linux” thing …

… i’m now curious about my community here

(i’m offering intentionally crude and ungranular options in this poll)

“I use Linux …”

(Please boost!)

It looks like you’re writing a letter! And, apparently, AI tools are now turned on by default in Microsoft Word. Just like I was, back in 1997.

Would you like some help deactivating that?

@yvan @neil these days, Windows has moved to driverless IPP for printing so any new 40 quid junk printer will work with Linux

@neil surely this is historic... Linux wifi has been pretty faultless in my experience for well over a decade. But then again perhaps my choice of laptops makes this likely, I rarely buy new (not for over a decade), and have almost always had Thinkpads. There is a whole world of laptop hardware out there I have no experience of...but all the same, I suspect this is mostly historic.

Now... Printers on the other hand...

@penguin42 @neil sure. But if you buy a mass market Lenovo more than a year old, or even a fully supported @frameworkcomputer it's gonna Just Work these days.

@neil it's a historical comment only. It's been that easy for a decade or more now

That's Pay Day Black Friday sorted...

* beer (10% off from )
* Home Assistant zigbee USB stick ( 20% off)
* zigbee RGB GU10 x15 (less than 3 quid each now on )
* whisky ( some random amount at , sadly)
* LED strip controller (no discount, but needed and free shipping with whisky)

Not even Xmas yet !

@revk I've had the page open in a tab for the last few weeks so I can reuse the left over strip from my first project for something else :)
