@carlile it's fake. it() supposed to be decentralized but as it is it seems like the only "instance" existing is .com I heard it's very difficult/expensive to host so no one does it which is clear sign that something is very wrong with it. if I'm right it will not succeed. in addition it's very heavy, slow, has ads, and not open-source. there's called "frontend" but it's just "odysee.com frontend" - not "lbry frontend". I also suspect they sensor worse than YouTube otherwise it would have become piracy haven. there nothing really good about it though it still more interesting content than from some youtubers who probably there for more money, not because thay excited about technology.

so it will never be anything like mastodon where anyone can host their own instance

Though I more prefer because activitypub is more decentralized and its "instances" are more fast - web host friendly. I love how gives to people more easy, free, and private way to access social media space - just one click and you have your autogenerated password and mandatory autogenarated "username" takes away pressure to reveal your real name making you more inclined to be anonymous.

New Ghibli film draws early morning crowds despite little promotion

Studio Ghibli fans flocked to theaters Friday on the opening day of what is speculated to be Japanese anime master Hayao Miyazaki’s final film.

Without any promotion ahead of the release, fans were equipped with just two clues — the film’s title, “Kimitachi wa Do Ikiru Ka?” and a simple movie poster portraying a bird — as they showed up at a Toho Cinemas theater in the Kabukicho district of Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward bright and early for one of Japan’s first screenings. The title translates to “How Do You Live?” [Since this story's publication, the film has officially been titled in English as "The Boy and the Heron."]

I actually would have preferred instead of if I had only two choices. You may say it's silly reason but I just like Threads' name and logo better. However what I do not like about at all, and seems like Threads is going this way as well, is that Facebook is a "walled garden". I surprised Facebook have gotten such big user base despite being "walled" because how would people know if there somethe worth registering for if place is closed. I think think for microblogging site is important to be open and being "walled" is what can prevent Threads from becoming successful. because Twitter like is public place where public figures like celebrities, whereas Facebook is more like private place for families and friends. Being "walled" and "just an app" makes Threads seem like and .

@Fragglemuppet " is for what you love, not what you hate."

I wish this were true but to me it looks like almost everyone on Mastodon constantly keep hating on everything - on blockchain, on Elon Musk, on so called "fascists", on antivaxers, even on people who do not want to use "image descriptions, on Putin, on Russia and Russian people, on God, on Bible, and so on and on, making Fedi toxic place.

I wonder if zot protocol is more lightweight than activitypub protocol, but knowing that zot has more features than activitypub I guess it shouldn't be more lightweight? Anyway whether it better or not why not make Mastodon version based/working on zot instead of activitypub for diversity sake. I think one protocol is not enough, and I heard activitypub is not that good, that some people are sceptical about it being the best solution for decentralized email-like social network that we want, - from technical point of view, maybe too over complicated to be really sustainable, I don't know.

Someone should make fork of Firefox for Android with the same interface as in Chrome for android. Then more people will want to use Firefox on Android. Interface of Chrome for Android is just better and should be standard of how interface of browser on Android should look, and work. I mean Chrome's seamless switch between page and tabs and back without any animation of panel with tabs moving/rising from bottom - it should just appear, better if full screen.

3 Fantasy Authors That Transformed C.S. Lewis

Every great author has people in their lives that shaped and molded them.
In the Chronicles of Narnia books, Lewis paid homage to many of those
writers including Edith Nesbit, J.R.R. Tolkien, and George MacDonald.

"The concept of portraying evil and then destroying it - I know this is considered mainstream, but I think it is rotten. This idea that whenever something evil happens someone particular can be blamed and punished for it, in life and in politics is hopeless." Hayao Miyazaki

I like idea of learning really small languages like because with a small it's a small Internet and a small world. Because I kind of person who wants to know everything and keep track of all things and I like it that when I google something in Icelandic it often can be only 2 pages of search results of last month.
