I *really* hated clowns as a youngster (no doubt due to the movie Poltergeist!) but for whatever reason I seem to have made a few of them over the years! 😬 🤡

#Code2022

The general purpose programming languages I wrote more than 500 lines of code in this year:
- JavaScript (production)
- Haskell (fun/side project)
- Rust (barely more than 1,500 lines so far for learning though)
- Scala (production)
- TypeScript (production)

Other languages (DSLs, special purpose, config):
- CSS
- Dhall
- HCL
- HTML
- Nix
- YAML (too damn much, FML)

Hi @ABAPDevEdition I already have a couple of use cases for the ABAP dev edition but I'm wondering if you could share others.

Mine are:
- training for CDS development
- proof of concept for connecting a git server with an Abap backend
- training for a TDD strategy

Any pointer is appreciated! 👍

On the same note, the Classic books series, again from the are absolutely worth your time, and many of the authors will be in both lists. [202212142258 ACM Classic Books](dl.acm.org/collections/classic)

Finally, another good read is the of where they approach the subject in a very objective way, which I like. [202212142301 The Philosophy of Computer Science](plato.stanford.edu/entries/com)

@Deadnoreset@mstdn.social absolutely true. Some apps are better for some tasks, while others are better for others. I like the overall interface from ToooT and mast but I like the hashtag panels of tootle

Awesome Collection of references, mainly related to . Some of the texts can be found inside the of the and, as one might imagine, there are gems that are worth reading. I specially recommend the Axiomatic Basis for by and The next 700 programming languages by Landin.

My favourite way to explain how large language models like GPT-3 work is that they're exactly the same idea as the iPhone predictive text keyboard, just a lot bigger

Which is a fun mental model to bring to the debate about whether or not they can achieve consciousness!

Just in case anyone is curious it costs me a little over $1,200 a month to run QOTO and all its services.

@saint11 so that's how it's called that style! The Return of the Obra Dinn was the first time I saw this technique used extensively and with great effect! Thanks for sharing!

I have followed @OpenCulture for years now and the content never disappoints.

@devharts Hi @devharts! after all this time, what's your opinion on the linux laptop?

Hi Qoto! I'm migrating from my old account @andres@mastodon.technology . Sadly that instance is now shutting down. I hope this change re-ignites my interest in posting and sharing more content. I am a software developer, and was tempted to move to @mastodon.gamedev.place but I also want to learn about all kinds of knowledge, so qoto seemed like a great place 🌞
