So I bought some buffalo worms intended for humans to eat. I never ate any worms or bugs before but im adventurous so I thought I'd try it out just so I can say I did it.

Here are the worms on my friend's sandwich right before he eats it. they really dont taste to bad, like nuts.

@freemo Insects can taste very good, and you'd be hard pressed to find a better protean source for the food input. I personally believe that insect based protean is a way forward to feeding the world in a more ecologically neutral way. They don't take nearly as much space or food to get the same amount of yield as larger animals.

That's not to say get rid of more traditional protean sources, I love bacon and beef. Just maybe diversify a bit.

@Surasanji These have no flavor really. I wonder how it compares to pea protein (our current cheapest source).

@freemo the insects I've eaten have been rather specific. Honey ants, which as you might guess are quite sweet. Some meal worms, which in this case had a sort of egg like taste- sort of like a fried egg yolk- this may have been because they were fried, though, and that's just the taste I 'gave' them.

I haven't tried the buffalo worms, though, I would.

@freemo I don't mind eating bugs, but they are quite rare in Italy. I read you can make some nice burgers and stuff with them.

Growing them could be an interesting spring challenge...
