I have the same issue. I just put my own thumbnails on when I attach a video and that takes care of the thumbnail issue, but I noticed when using the default video upload thinky, the video only shows locally (on qoto.org) and not on other instances.
If instead I upload to video.qoto.org/ to host the video and then point to that in my toots, will that fix it?

@Pat

peer tube is an entierly different service but it uses the same protocol (activity pub).. so yes it should fix it and people can even follow your peertube account directly as they would your QOTO account and receive new videos direct in their timeline.

@FailForward What do you mean by "in the mastodon interface".. is nt the public timeline part of that interface?

@FailForward

Ok I see what you mean. Have you happened to notice if this happens with non-qoto accounts?

@Pat

@FailForward It could be that its just a limitation of QOTO or a bug with the version. If you happen to add this as a ticket on our git I can investigate it at our next upgrade, which hopefully is in the fairly near future.

@freemo This happened yesterday after we spoke, I tagged your @science group with a yt video and there was no preview panel. Went and checked just now and there it is. Maybe there's some kind of delay?

I suspect previews get queued and are probably rate limited from YT's end. So likely that is the case.
