@freemo My parent's house got struck once. It welded the weather vane to point one direction and we had to replace half the electronics.

@freemo In November 2019 here there was a massive lightning strile immediately overhead in the early hours of the morning. Unfortunately, I hadn't unplugged the router and other vulnerable electrics (for reasons I won;t go into). Of course I lost the router but also my cordless phone. The plastic casing of the transformer unit was simply blown off. In the great storm of 2017, the electrical activity overhead proved so great that it fried an external sound card which wasn't plugged into anything! But that proved a blessing as I discovered (late in the day) the internal sound card was actually better!
