FYI I would just like to point out the fact that the COVID vaccine played out **exactly** the way I said it would... That it would likely only cause a temporary protection and that over time you'd need a new shot over and over again to remain protected... thus making quarantines and masks perpetual or something we have to admit we have to abandon.

Ahh I remember when all the liberals and mask fanatics were yelling at me calling me an idiot for making that claim, and here we are, exactly like I said it would play out.

@freemo

I have a relative that works with testing for different kinds of illnesses. She said in the beginning that this will be one of the "seasonal flus that we have to learn to live with".
She also said that giving people shots is not a long term solution, but preferable something that people should take oraly instead.

Just interesting

@freemo i was at the doctor with something unrelated today and the fucking gaslighting (it's exactly how it feels) wouldn't stop.

i said that i'd rather wait for a classic dead-vaccine. i didn't even get a reply to that. i didn't get a reply to "we can't accelerate time to see long term effects". only more "but long covid!!1", "everyone got it and they are fine!!11".

we used DDT for decades because it was harmless. we used fluorocarbons for decades because they were harmless. the list of stuff which had unintended side effects is nearly endless.

i'm so fucking tired about that i'm painted as idiot because i don't want to use a new technology on myself which doesn't even fix the goddamn problem.

@freemo To be fair, booster shots are a pretty normal thing. As for government intervention, I don't have a clear answer to that. Although I can tell you in my State the mandates are gone for the general public. They're still required sometimes, and public schools are the moral outrage topic right now, but the dichotomy isn't as drastic as 'all quarantine all the time' vs 'abandon all masks ye who enter.'

I know that's not the case everywhere though. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but at least locally things are trending towards greater normalcy.

@b6hydra needing a booster shot every 3 months is far from a normal thing. The current vaccine didnt even remain effective for a year.

@freemo True and there's been no shortage of criticism that they were only designed for emergency use. I don't see how it follows though, that further progress won't be made or permitted, keeping us in a constant state of quarantine.

@freemo i've held this opinion quietly since march of last year, should a shot be developed (and a chemist friend of mine went to his lab to develop one with his team that april.) also fwiw i am not pro or antivax, either. but i am pro logic. and the body has alllll manner of things it likes that are much more effective at staying healthy than taking shots. namely vitamins, minerals, amino acids and the five pillars: food, sleep, exercise, mood, and well i forget #5 :)

@freemo nobody have ever said that one shot would have protected a person forever. Literally nobody.

@Madmonkey
I dont recall ever claiming someone said that. Whats your point?
