I have been really struggling to find the joy I used to find in coding lately and I'm not really sure why...

@freemo maybe try a new language? sometimes a breath of fresh air helps me :)

@bonifartius yea that helped for a bit, been playing with mostly new (to me) languages for over a year now. But even then its hard to muster the excitement and energy that I should have, and usuall have.

@freemo i found that if i know that there will be lots of busywork i get demotivated by that prospect. maybe just do something with fast payoff. building small tools for something which always has bugged me often got the motivation going for me.
or just do something completely different, inspiration can't really be forced :)

@bonifartius Thiws is true busywork is very demotivating. But that has always been the case for me, lately ive struggled to get excited at even the fun stuff.

@freemo just read the other thread, that stuff would take a toll on everyone :/

@bonifartius yea, most people would have stuggle with the 2 years I just went through. hell COVID alone has been hard on most people without adding a spinal injury into the mix.

@freemo you’re probably just tired. Or something in your code is going bad and it ruins your morale.

@freemo why don’t you go test the things you bought in scuba

@louisrcouture thats the plan, to head out on a SCUBA trip for a few months in the very near future. I just tied up my last loose end today.

@louisrcouture My code has been going as smooth as usual. I am getting tired, too long no vacation and more specifically no ocean. I have had overwhelming cravings to step foot in clear waters again. I think a vacation will do me a world of good.
